What are you waiting for?

weddingmoon

MY WEDDING UPDATE: Well, the plans for my wedding keep changing and re-arranging themselves. I am finally almost ready to book the trip I have been waiting my whole life for. This has been a long time coming and will still be a long time off. In February 2007 Jerry and I got engaged. No it wasn’t all silly and romantic and blah blah blah. We both knew we wanted to marry each other. It was just a matter of deciding that yes we are infact for sure going to marry each other and we are officially engaged. Did I want the frills? A little yes. But in the end, I got to choose the ring I loved and that was going to be something that means so very much to me. Then life got complicated. Most of you all know the story so I need not rehash the details. If you do not know, read my year in review blog. That pretty much summed up how badly my 2007 sucked donkey balls. So back to the subject at hand. The wedding! Currently Jeremy and I have been engaged for a year and about 7 months. By the time we get married it will be close to 2 and a half years. And again the reason for the long engagement is mainly to do with how upside down our 2007 was. So basically we decided on a destination wedding. I love the idea and wouldn’t have my wedding any other way. Getting married on a secluded beach with just the minimal amount of people is ideal for me. Yes I love to be the center of attention, but I honestly don’t like 300 people staring at me. I start to fidget and get nervous and I just don’t want to feel like that on my wedding day. The sun, sand, water, and wind are all factors I so desperately want in my wedding ceremony. I am not totally throwing all tradition out the window. I do plan to have some of the traditional vows in my own vows, but more personalized. I have gone to so very many weddings in the last 4 years and I am truly happy for every one that has gotten married. But honestly, I’m tired of hearing the same vows repeated over and over. I want him to know that I vow these specific things to him and have it be so very intimate and personal. No couple is exactly the same and I don’t see a reason for all of our vows to be identical. As long as the message of love, laughter, faithfulness, and whatever random thing I feel like pledging to him. He knows I will be there in good times and bad and I know he will be too. We’ve already proved that one! So, now the condo is going to be officially sold next month and its time to finally hunker down and decide on where I want to have my ceremony/honeymoon. No I am not bringing Dylan with because it will be more than just a commitment ceremony. It is also our honeymoon and I don’t know about you, but I’m not bringing a 7 year old on my honeymoon. Now that we will have the funds we will have to decide for sure on a destination. Our main things were 1) a beach and 2) being on American soil. With those two things decided, Hawaii was our first choice in locations. And as much as I like the idea of Hawaii, I decided I wanted to have an all-inclusive hotel and Hawaii does not do that. So on to St. Thomas. The hotel offered both 1 and 2 that we wanted so it was a great idea for everyone invited. One big huge thing I wanted in any resort we chose to be our destination was an in pool bar. I think it is just brilliant and love the idea of floating in a pool with drinks never further than an arms reach. So that being said, we have changed destinations AGAIN. I have been looking into the Sandals Montego Bay Resort in Jamaica and it looks fabulous. Words can’t even begin to describe it. The views are breathtaking and the countless list of activities and things to do is insane. I hope this is going to be our final and definite destination because I think it looks like so much fun. I did just find out that the proper term for the type of wedding we are having is a Weddingmoon. It’s pretty self explanatory. So yes finally we are going to be going full steam ahead with our wedding plans. I am so excited. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us. For now, I am going to go and read more hotel reviews and look for a dress. Wish me luck!
