I decided a little while ago to write a series of poems, all with a connecting theme. As a result, here is the first in my series called The Five Horsemen Of The Apocalypse. I hope to get them published in the future.
Death has carved the landscape,
Into ditches, craters, holes and hills.
The people here had no escape,
From the screaming bombs so shrill.
The mangled bodies all now gone,
Melted has the snow.
The blue sky now filled with bird song,
On the ground grass shall grow.
But the ground is still torn apart,
Nature's face now scarred.
So many broken hearts,
The history of man is marred.
The sounds of past still echo
Through lands contoured in pain.
The dead lying below
Will die again and again.
All the dead unnamed,
All the graves are unmarked.
All the killers shamed,
Their souls forever dark. ..
