Ok those of you that know me know I hate Walmart. I am politically against there practices concerning censorship of music and movies, and there questionable labor practices, and on top of that the places are a mad house of rednecks and chaos and smell. I generally avoid them like the plauge but around Christmas when ever store is hell I went against my normal practice of never shopping there and stopped in to pick up a couple of Christmas items. I took my daughter with me handed her $40 and sent her on her way to do some shopping of her own while I filled the last of my list. Anyway, she was wearing her Elment A440 shirt. Those of you who know Element know the shirt I am talking about. The front of the shirt in large letters says "FUCK YOUR GOD" on it. I had heard a story from one of the band members that he had been kicked out of a Walmart for wearing this shirt and not sure what Walmart it was but it must be true. My daughter took off on her own and got harrassed by several Walmart customers and employees for her shirt and then eventually was asked by security to leave. She explained she was with her mom who was in the store somewhere but they did not care. So she stood outside the store for a while were she was creating even a larger distrubance with the shirt and eventually one of the staff was concerned that if she got hurt or kidnapped I would sue as they just kicked a minor outside into a parking lot without her parents. So they brought her back in and sat her down in a corner of the store. A woman around 30 and her boyfriend came up to her and told her how much they loved her shirt and asked her where she got it. She explained it was from a band called Element A440 and told them all about the band. The couple was very interested and kept asking questions about where they could hear the band and one of the security people got angry and yelled at these customers telling them they could not talk to my daughter as she was in the process of getting kicked out of the store and was not allowed to talk to customers. Funny, she was a customer herself who had just spent money there. Did I mention they did let her check out and pay before kicking her out. Anyway, they started to page me over the intercom but I am oblivious and never listen to those silly things and did not hear my name. Eventually, my daughter spotted me in line and they let her come to me to get the keys to go out to the car and wait. Not before advising her that she should not return to the store in that shirt again. The one greeter who had to be 70 if she was a day is the only one who took her side and patted her on the back and told her it was sad that people were so intolerant in life. One of the security woman thought to give her a verbal set down by telling her how bad profanity was and how religion was a good thing. My daughter responded she did not think religion was a bad thing that people were just fanatical in their beliefs sometimes and punished, harrassed, and killed others over it and that more people had been killed in the name of religion than for any other purpose and that her shirt said "your god" not just god. That it was a statement about how people persecute others in the name of their religion. To which the security woman replied "Wow you are really smart, you must do good in school"
Anyway, once more a chance for me to yell about Walmart and nobody should shop there or if you do go show up in your "Fuck your God" shirt. If we all did it they could not kick us all out. A friend of mine says I should file a suit against them for kicking a minor out of the store unaccompanied and putting her in jeopardy but I am not the sue happy type but I do have to admit striking back at Walmart does sound appealing.
