Hello fellow Fubarites! My name is Korrin Bathory. I am from Crossfield, Alberta, Canada, and I am a devout follower of Straight Edge. Straight Edge is a philosophical frame of mind and a serious lifestyle decision. Like other people who follow the Straight Edge movement, I do not do any recreational drugs, I do not drink any form of alcohol, I do not smoke, and I do not have promiscuous casual sex. Sorry guys, you can look at me and fantasize about me all you want, but you can't touch. :-P LOL
The Straight Edge movement was spawned in the United States during the early 1980s by Ian MacKaye and his hardcore punk bands Minor Threat and Teen Idles. Since then the lifestyle has spread throughout the world. Some followers of Straight Edge are also Christians and use their religious backgrounds and beliefs to enforce their lifestyle choices as being "pure" and "clean." As such, many followers of Straight Edge refrain completely from casual sex. These people believe in sex only within loving, caring, and meaningful relationships rather than sleeping around with random individuals and having pointless one night stands with people they do not even know.
Being Straight Edge requires active decision making and personal choices as well as participation in the movement's subculture. Many adopters of the Straight Edge lifestyle get a tattoo of the "X" symbol on parts of their body or wear it on clothing, jewellery, pins, etc. Attaching the "X" to your name is a common practice of Straight Edge as well.
The use of the "X" symbol originated from the club scene during the 1980s where people between the ages of 18 and 21 had the tops of their hands marked with an "X" to indicate that they should not be served alcohol. Since then the use of the "X" has become a recognized symbol of Straight Edge. Tripling the X's (XXX or xXx) denotes the abstinence from drugs, alcohol, and sex, but for some Straight Edge followers, including myself, it also means the purity of mind, body, and soul.
I am a very well-educated and very well-read person. I have earned two university degrees from the University of Calgary. I have a Bachelor's degree in philosophy as well as a Master's degree in theology, so I am very well versed in the philosophical and theological disciplines. Philosophy and theology have always been major interests for me since I was young and pursuing my studies in these fields was something that I have always wanted to do.
If you have not figured it out for yourself from looking at my pictures posted in my albums here on my Fubar profile, I am a professional model. I have been modelling for the past seven years for the all-female "Straight Edge Sisterhood" modelling agency based in downtown Calgary, Alberta. Our modelling agency is a Hardcore Straight Edge group of women. From our upper management team down to our photographers and models, we only employ talented, devoted, and hard-working Straight Edge women. We are devoutly feminist in our outlook on the fashion and modelling industries and we are trying to change perceptions about women in the modelling industry through our work and promotional events.
In addition to my modelling work with the Straight Edge Sisterhood, I am also employed by the Calgary City Council as an advisory consultant for the Standing Policy Committee on Community and Protective Services. My work with the Calgary municipal government deals predominantly with providing advice and recommendations to the City Council regarding sustainable solutions to the social problems of underage drinking, smoking, and drug use. Because of my Straight Edge lifestyle, I am very passionate about working with the Calgary City Council in trying to help our city's youth make better lifestyle choices for themselves and become stronger, more productive citizens of our wonderful metropolitan municipality.
Concerning my personal likes and interests, I am very much interested in and have a major fascination with the Goth subculture and the supernatural. If you have not taken note of my family name, I am a Bathory. My father's side of my family traces their bloodline and ancestry back to Elizabeth Bathory. Bathory was a Hungarian countess from the renowned Bathory family who lived during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. The Bathory family, part of the Hungarian and Slovakian aristocracy, was best remembered for defending the Hungarian Empire against the Ottoman Turks. Countess Bathory became known as the most infamous serial killer in Hungarian and Slovakian history, and she is remembered as the "Blood Countess" and as "Bloody Lady of Cachtice," after the castle near Trencin in Royal Hungary (present-day Slovakia), where she lived for most of her life. Following her husband's death in 1604, Bathory and four collaborators were accused of torturing and murdering hundreds of girls and young women. In 1610, Bathory was confined to Cachtice Castle, where she remained imprisoned in a bricked room until her death four years later. Since she was a countess and part of the Hungarian nobility, she was never formally tried in court. The Bathory case has inspired many legends, including the story of the countess bathing in the blood of the young virgin maidens whom she murdered to retain her youthful appearance. Her bloodlust earned her the nicknames of "Blood Countess" and "Countess Dracula," and it has become legend that she is one of the first known "Vampire Queens" of the modern era. Bathory's lineage is also traceable to Vlad The Impaler, who became better known as Count Dracula in modern literature. So to say that I have a bit of "evil" and "blood thirst" flowing through my veins is an understatement. ;-)
Are You Straight Edge?
WOW! You're Hardcore Straight Edge! YOU ROCK! I am also a Hardcore Straight Edger. People think our lives are boring, but they are wrong. We have an even better time knowing and loving the person who we have sex with, caring for what we put into our bodies, and not having double vision from hangovers. sXe 4 Life!
You Are Strength Courage. Strength. Fortitude. Power not arrested in the act of judgement, but passing on to further action, sometimes obstinacy.
This is a card of courage and energy. It represents both the Lion's hot, roaring energy, and the Maiden's steadfast will. The innocent Maiden is unafraid, undaunted, and indomitable. In some cards she opens the Lion's mouth, in others she shuts it. Either way, she proves that inner strength is more powerful than raw physical strength. That forces can be controlled and used to score a victory is very close to the message of the Chariot, which might be why, in some decks, it is Justice that is Card 8 instead of Strength. With Strength you can control not only the situation, but yourself. It is a card about anger and impulse management, about creative answers, leadership and maintaining one's personal honour. It can also stand for a steadfast friend.
