I'm just some guy.
-I'm a father of two incredibly awesome kids.
-I do truly enjoy intelligent (interesting) conversation.
-I am generally happy to disagree on most subjects. As a lifelong learner, I find open-mindedness to be an asset.
-I believe in social justice, tolerance, education, sustainability, creativity, balance, simplicity, and that we are all one.
-I have a pathological aversion to liars, hypocrites, haters, greed, and mean people.
-I have no patience for willful ignorance (e.g. non-rich Republicans, religious fundamentalists, those who blindly support the 'war' (I support the troops), people who don't wash their hands, people who 'don't believe' in safe sex, people who refuse to educate themselves, and etc.).
"The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie -- deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought."
-John F. Kennedy
-I have
little to no patience for fakes and phonies. (I suppose I do understand the urge. I'm sure we all feel at times that we are not the people that we want to be. If I was being fake right now, would I know it?)
-I like to read real paper books (I concentrate on non-fiction), web surfing to research any number of topics that pique my interest, play chess on and off line, socializing with friends & family, play guitar (poorly), cycling/mountain biking, hiking/walking, golf/practicing golf, camping, yoga, music, live entertainment (esp. comedy, plays and small venue music shows) and I'm a huge movie fan (from low-brow to high art & documentary).
-I actually read the 'about me' section. (Seems to be a prevalent perception that many do not?)
-I try to rate only photo's of profilee. I always rate a ten, or I don't rate. Sometimes I rate too fast and pics go unrated.
-I fan people who seem cool or cute or I like their attitude, doesn't mean anything.
-I have accepted all friend requests so far, although I've actually talked to only two. I have yet to submit a friend request, but if I did, it would mean you were someone I would like to talk to again.
-I believe that Family should be reserved for those that one considers a friend (to the degree that is possible online).
-I will NEVER have pics of my naughty bits (sorry ladies, lol). I don't want to cam, IM, or call you (again, sorry ladies).
-I actually have a life, such as it is (it's been a weird year).
-So why am I here? To be a virtual alcoholic? To meet cool people and look at pictures of strange women, I guess.
What else can I say? None of us are as complex and interesting as we'd like to believe (as we'd like others to believe).
Like many others before me have put so eloquently, if you want to know something you needn't but ask. (You’ll get some sort of answer)
Thanks for taking the time to read. Comments are welcome.
"...
I have perceiv'd that to be with those I like is enough,
To stop in company with the rest at evening is enough,
To be surrounded by beautiful, curious, breathing, laughing flesh is enough,
To pass among them or touch any one, or rest my arm ever so lightly
round his or her neck for a moment, what is this then?
I do not ask any more delight, I swim in it as in a sea.
There is something in staying close to men and women and looking
on them, and in the contact and odor of them, that pleases the soul well,
All things please the soul, but these please the soul well.

"...
All I have is a voice
To undo the folded lie,
The romantic lie in the brain
Of the sensual man-in-the-street
And the lie of Authority
Whose buildings grope the sky:
There is no such thing as the State
And no one exists alone;
Hunger allows no choice
To the citizen or the police;
We must love one another or die.

Friendship
Dear friend, I pray thee, if thou wouldst be proving
Thy strong regard for me,
Make me no vows. Lip-service is not loving;
Let thy faith speak for thee.
Swear not to me that nothing can divide us -
So little such oaths mean.
But when distrust and envy creep beside us
Let them not come between.
Say not to me the depths of thy devotion
Are deeper than the sea;
But watch, lest doubt or some unkind emotion
Embitter them for me.
Vow not to love me ever and for ever,
Words are such idle things;
But when we differ in opinions, never
Hurt me by little stings.
I'm sick of words: they are so lightly spoken,
And spoken, are but air.
I'd rather feel thy trust in me unbroken
Than list thy words so fair.
If all the little proofs of trust are heeded,
If thou art always kind,
No sacrifice, no promise will be needed
To satisfy my mind.
