Souless's blog: "US MARINES"

created on 07/06/2007  |  http://fubar.com/us-marines/b99473
I painted myself green to blend in with the trees, now no one knows who I really am, and I can finally do as I please, we're all a bunch of misfits, lead here by some unkown path, some of us dreamers, just running from our pasts, but we now call each other brother, and lend our helping hands, its a relationship of misery, pain, and fate, that few will understand... so we walk by day, and walk by night, one behind the other, to make sure your brother is alright, the pain it comes, and the misery wont go, fate brought us here, and our feelings, we'll never show. So I wear the trees, and my face does too, we'll walk til its all over, and maybe we'll make it back to you, but in the meantime dont forget us, while we're busy doing our time, we'll call once in a while, to let you know we're doing fine, And please don't believe the rumors, Don't believe the lies, We're your husbands and your sons, Not evil people you should despise, No i cant tell you where I'm going, Or when I'm comming home, It just so happens some things in life, are better left unknown, BUT you should know this..... We're not the ones who fly the skies, Or float the seven seas, We're not the ones who push the papers, And do whatever that they please, We're not the ones who drive the trucks, And certainly not the ones who serve the food, We're not the ones you've talked too, that are always in good moods, We're not those guys on the commercials, Nor are we the ones you always see, We'll never be seen on a poster, You'll be lucky to ever catch a glimpse of me... We're the guys who walks the roads, And live amongst the trees, We're the guys who wear the packs, And usually have unrolled sleeves, My boots are always dirty, I look nasty and unclean, Half the words I always say, are pretty dam obscene, WE are the ones who pull the trigger, and put our lives on the line, Because amongst all the chaos and the horror, This is where we were meant to shine, So if your wondering where we are, yeah, we'll be out amongst the trees, And if your wondering who we are, We'll tell you we are marines, But more importantly to my brothers, And more importantly to me, I serve my time....in the marine corps infantry. -written and dedicated to every 11 out there. you know who you are.
Once A Marine, Always A Marine Author Unknown _________________________ I was that which others did not want to be. I went where others failed to go. And did what others failed to do. I asked nothing from those who gave nothing And reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness, should I fail. I have seen the Face of Terror, Felt the stinging Cold of Fear, And enjoyed the sweet taste of a moments love. I have cried, pained and hoped ... but most of all, I have lived times others would say were best forgotten. At least today I am able to say that I was proud of what I was..... A UNITED STATES MARINE

To Be A Marine

TO BE A MARINE............................................... Some people think we came from hell, others think we should all go there. Then there are the wise ones who are glad we are around. So what does it take to be a Marine? I admit, you have to be a bit foolish, a little daring, somewhat adventurous, looking for a challenge and according to most parents-crazy. Why? Because we are special. We train differently, we act differently, we think like no others, we take chances where others never would, we do more with less, we are overflowing with pride. We wear our uniform with pride, we hold our heads up high with pride and our families are proud of us. Our country respects us, there are those who are not fond of us and the enemy fear us. So, unless you've been a Marine, no one really understands us or what it takes to be a Marine. We are damn proud to be called "Marine". You can find a former Marine in all walks of life. People say we're dummies, stupid, crazy, obnoxious, animals. THEY JUST DON'T KNOW!!!! I have met former Marines who are lawyers, doctor, artists, police captains, business owners and just about any profession you can imagine. And every former Marine I have met is just as proud now as when they were in the Corps. Our ways in life and in combat are unconventional, unlike others, daring foolish or rude at times, impetuous, usually tough but always successful. We have been called, "America's 911". We know how to "TAKE IT" and we know how to "DISH IT OUT". We have gone through boot camp or OCS and became sensitive, caring and loving. Sensitive to what people say about us, caring for our fellow Marines and loving our Corps and country. The men and women of the Marine Corps are highly motivated and held in high esteem by those who love us, hate us and fear us. We have an ego the size of Texas and a history to back it up. No one can ever take that away from us because we have earned it. When you join the Marine Corps, it is because you want to be a Marine, “I KNOW”. Over the past century, we have been looked down upon, insulted, spat on, rejected, degraded, used, abused, exploited and taken advantage of. We love it! We can take it that's what makes us a Marine, this special treatment. We are respected and admired by other countries yet not in some social circles in our country. That is just fine because we shall be here, prepared to fight when our country needs us again and we ask for nothing. That's what it takes to be a Marine. Gen. George S. Patton could not have said it any better when he said, "The highest obligation and privilege of citizenship it that of bearing arms for one's country. " If it weren't for these crazy, foolhardy, vulgar, wild, gutsy, braggarts who joined the Marine Corps, we would not have a country, a free country. A free country that allows others to call us names. We have protected this country and died for you. Thank you for that honor.

The Final Inspection

The Final Inspection The Soldier stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass, He hoped his shoes were shining, Just as brightly as his brass, "Step forward now, you Soldier, How shall I deal with you ? Have you always turned the other cheek ? To my Church have you been true?" The Soldier squared his shoulders and said: "No Lord, I guess I ain't, Because those of us who carry guns, Can't always be a Saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was tough, And sometimes I've been violent, Because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny, That was'nt mine to keep, Though I worked alot of overtime, When the bills got just too steep, And I never passed a cry for help, Though times I shook with fear, And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears, I know I don't deserve a place, Among the people here, They never wanted me around, Except to calm their fears. If you've a place for me here, Lord, It need'nt be so grand, I never expected or had too much, But, If you don't, I'll understand" There was a silence all around the throne, Where all the Saints trod, As the Soldier waited quietly, For the judgment of his God, "Step forward now, you Soldier, You have bore your burdens well, Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets, You've done your time in Hell"

The Marine

THE MARINE We all came together, Both young and old To fight for our freedom, To stand and be bold. In the midst of all evil, We stand our ground, And we protect our country From all terror around. Peace and not war, Is what some people say. But I'll give my life, So you can live the American way. I give you the right To talk of your peace. To stand in your groups, and protest in our streets. But still I fight on, I don't bitch, I don't whine. I'm just one of the people Who is doing your time. I'm harder than nails, Stronger than any machine. I'm the immortal soldier, I'm a U.S. MARINE! So stand in my shoes, And leave from your home. Fight for the people who hate you, With the protests they've shown. Fight for the stranger, Fight for the young. So they all may have, The greatest freedom you've won. Fight for the sick, Fight for the poor Fight for the cripple, Who lives next door. But when your time comes, Do what I've done. For if you stand up for freedom, You'll stand when the fight's done. By: Corporal Aaron M. Gilbert, US Marine Corps USS SAIPAN, PERSIAN GULF March 23, 2003 Hey Dad, Do me a favor and label this "The Marine" and send it to everybody on your email list. Even leave this letter in it. I want this rolling all over the US; I want every home reading it. Every eye seeing it. And every heart to feel it. So can you please send this for me? I would but my email time isn't that long and I don't have much time anyway. You know what Dad?I wondered what it would be like to truly understand what JFK said in His inaugural speech. "When the time comes to lay down my life for my country, I do not cower from this responsibility. I welcome it." Well, now I know. And I do. Dad, I welcome the opportunity to do what I do. Even though I have left behind a beautiful wife, and I will miss the birth of our first born child, I would do it 70 times over to fight for the place that God has made for my home. I love you all and I miss you very much. I wish I could be there when Sandi has our baby, but tell her that I love her, and Lord willing, I will be coming home soon. Give Mom a great big hug from me and give one to yourself too. Aaron

WHAT MAKES A MARINE

What Is A United States Marine? I am 232 years of romping, stomping, hell, death, destruction. I am the finest fighting machine the world has ever seen. I was born in a bomb crater. My mother was an M-16 and my Father is the Devil. Each moment that I live is an additional threat upon your life. I am a rough looking, roving soldier from the sea. I am cocky, self centered, and overbearing. I do not know the meaning of fear for I am fear itself. I am a green amphibious monster made of blood and guts that arose from the ashes of my enemies, festering on anti-Americans throughout the globe. When ever it may arise and when my time comes, I will die a glorious and grotesque death on the battlefield, giving my life for the Corps, Mom, and Apple Pie. I stole the Eagle from the Air Force, the Anchor from the Navy, and the rope from the Army. Then on the 7th day, while God rested, I overran His perimeter and took over the Globe and I have been protecting it ever since! I live like a Soldier, talk like a Sailor, and slap the shit out of both of them. Warrior by day, lover by night, drunkard by choice, and... MARINE BY THE GRACE OF GOD ALONE!
