I just received the following fax from the American Red Cross of Central Illinois.
"WE ARE NOW BELOW A TWO-DAY SUPPLY IN MANY BLOOD TYPES. WE NEED TO CORRECT THIS IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND."
"WE NORMALLY HAVE A THREE-DAY STOCKPILE OF BLOOD AVAILABLE AT ANY GIVEN TIME. BUT IT HAS FALLEN BELOW THAT BECAUSE OF INCREASED USAGE FOR MEDICAL PROCEDURES AND FEWER DONATIONS BECAUSE OF THE HOLIDAYS."
"ALL TYPES OF BLOOD ARE NEEDED, BUT THERE IS STILL A SPECIAL NEED FOR DONORS WITH 0-POSITIVE, A-POSITIVE, O-NEGATIVE, AND B-NEGATIVE."
