From Krystyn

Hi all,

Yes, I'm back, but only to post this. I am not going to rehash things that Lynda has already said. I'm sure you all know by now I was in an accident and have my work cut out for me to get back on my feet, both literally and figuratively. One thing Lynda didn't mention is there is some spinal damage too, which may require surgery. The doctors think that may be why I haven't had the flexibility that is normally expected, and the feeling and reflexes haven't been normal.

That is in addition to my recovery from the other assorted injuries, and the physical therapy required to resume normalcy. Depending on what doctors find when checking my spine will determine a number of things. All I can say is I need to focus my efforts and attention on getting myself better. so it is with a heavy heart I must bid you all a goodbye. Lynda also hinted at my mental state, which I know needs a lot of work. It did before, and the accident has made some things worse.

I want to thank those of you that made my time on Fubar fun. If there was another way, I would look to take it. But there isn't. There are some of you that are important, probably more important than you could know.

Country - Sweetie - you have no idea what our chats meant to me. In a different situation, who knows what might have happened. Lets just say I know things could have happened. I did read all your posts, and some brought tears to my eyes. But until I get control of my body (or should I say, If I get full control) not to mention my mind and emotions, I am not going to be good for much. You deserve the best of me, and right now, I am nowhere even close to being my best. Please know that you will always be in my heart and mind. The best I can say is I never would have accepted your engagement if you hadn't gotten inside of me. Thoughts of you are one of the few things that helps me smile, and also what made the decision to take a vacation from Fu while I recover very tough.

Ryche - You got me here, and I thank you. I will take your advice and not close the account. I have sent you my login and password via PM. Take over my page, and use the ability points as you see fit. there are more details in the email. Regarding the pics, I know you'll do right by me. But if you are in dire need for credits, and can take advantage of some desperate troll, well, you know I would. After all, it is just a picture.

Berg, White Chocolate - Thank you both for your kindness and politeness, especially during this very trying time for me.
To everyone else who has shown or left love, messages - Thank you, they are appreciated. I have no way to return or repay your kindness. Even if I may not respond to everything, I do appreciate the true, good people on this site. It's nice to know there are other polite, respectful people out there.

And if any Pervs/Trolls are reading this, well, if it didn't hurt so much to extend my middle fingers towards you. I think that says it all.
With a heavy heart for now - at least for certain people, you know if you are one - I must say goodbye. Perhaps I'll return when things are better physically and emotionally. Country and Ryche, I love you both. Everyone else who has been nice - I fu-luv you. Btw, if you have to ask yourself "Do I fall into the "been nice" group?", odds are, you don't. You know if you have been nice to me.

Take care for now Fu. Don't forget to live life. As I know, it is very short and shouldn't be taken for granted.

Ryche, please take good care of my page.

Krystyn

July 20

It's been a busy few days here. The hospital where Krystyn was felt comfortable enough to approve her transfer to a different place, one that won't require our parents to live out of a hotel anymore. They did have her sedated during the move, but upon coming out of it at the more local place, she knew she was somewhere different, and actually smiled for the first time once she learned where she was. The smile was because it would now be less stressful on mom and dad, and they could have the comforts of their own home.

Things are still looking good. Although she's got a ways to go before she can even begin therapy, the hospital is hopeful that within a week or so, they can at least move her around in a wheelchair instead of a bed. Most of her surface bruising has gone away, but it looks like she's going to have some scars on various parts of her from cuts that occurred both during the accident and some of the surgeries as a result.

The Scars may prove tricky and tough for her though. While she's never been one to brag or use her looks, she is proud of them, and knows she's pretty. She just hates being told that. I imagine the scars are going to be tough for her to come to grips with, and will make her even more resistant to pictures and compliments than she already is. She hasn't seen herself in a mirror yet, and she's been mostly sedated so she really hasn't had a chance to look at herself. That time will be coming soon.

Sunday July 15

Good Morning all.

Well, the good news is the doctors are slowly reducing Krystyn's pain meds, so she's a little more alert. The drawback to it is she has to deal with a little more pain. They've also started her on an assisted physical therapy for her non casted leg and her arms. Basically someone comes in and moves them, lifts them, and massages them. The purpose is to at least keep those parts moving so the muscles there don't atrophy or weaken much.

No word on when she can move closer to our parents, but she'll probably need full time physical therapy for about a week, then she can actually stay at our parents while she undergoes the rest of her treatment. Hopefully within the week.

One other bit of good news is the neurologist thinks her brain is healing nicely. Lord knows it definately got shook up, but according to her, there doesn't appear to be any major/deep tissue damage, and surface bruises seem to be doing ok. Thankfully there are also no signs of clotting or blood vessels bursting.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

July 11

I'm not too sure what to say about the past few days. They've been rough, but it is more the mental than physical at this point. Kick is going through some tough times, and facing a long road. However, she'd probably kill me if I give much more detail than that.

Physically, she is recovering slowly. She's still in the intermediate care unit, but we think she'll be able to be tranferred closer to our parents house in the next week or so. Either the pain is gradually lessening, or she isn't letting on how much things hurt. Knowing her, either could be the truth.

She still doesn't remember much after leaving to head back home, but the last CAT scan came back without showing anything major, but that doesn't mean much. She could be blocking things, or could still have short term amnesia or some concussion related issues.

It is a lot of wait and see still. I just wish she'd show some sign of going stir crazy, or something. She just seem so quiet, which I guess is expected, but kind of scary at the same point, cause its so unlike her.

I wish I had better news, but for now, I don't. Hopefully as she starts to move (or be moved) some, she'll revert back.

Thurs. July 5

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the long time between updates, but life goes on and sometimes gets a little hectic.

Anyway, the update - as expected, Kicks has had some ups and downs, but no major scares, at least nothing that the doctors were overly concerned with. The doctors alerted us that she would have good and bad days as her body works to repair itself, so, while sometimes scary or disheartening to see her in pain, it sounds like its part of the process.

On Monday, she was moved out of critical care to an intermediate care unit. This basically means she still requires a lot of watching, tests, vitals checked, etc, but that the doctors feel she isn't in serious danger. She is also a little more lucid and the pain, while a lot, is a little more tolerable. When she is lucid, we are more letting her decide the direction of conversation, which can last anywhere from 10-30 minutes, depending on how much she wants to tolerate.

She is aware she is in a hospital, and recognizes family (both in person and pictures). She doesn't seem to want to talk about the accident yet. The only thing she asked about it was to find out if anyone else was hurt (which, if there is such a thing as a small favor, there wasn't). At this point, we don't know if she is blocking it out, or truly doesn't remember. We aren't going to push her on it. She will talk when she's ready.

Fu comes up once in a while, more her checking to make sure I'm letting you all know you haven't been forgotten. However, I'm not sure she's fully aware when I read some of the comments. She did smile, but I think she might have zoned out or been taken to la-la land by the meds.

I'll try to be a litte more prompt with the next update. Apologies again for the delay on this one. Thank you all - Lynda

Update for Thursday 6/28

Krystyn remains in critical but stable condition. Doctors are cautiously optimistic that she might be able to be moved to an intermediate care ward by the end of the weekend. She is still mostly sedated to help keep her relaxed and still.

Long term prognosis is also cautious optimism at this point, with Long being the key word. The physical symptoms from her concussion seem to be disappearing, but she is sedated, so its hard to tell whether the improvement is based on actual health or the meds. She hasn't been lucid enough yet to truly talk to, see what she remembers, or if there are any non-obvious issues (headaches, light sensitivity, balance). With some of her injuries, balance is probably way down the line. It is certainly going to be a baby step recovery.
At some point in the future, we probably will have her transferred to a hospital closer to our parents, but that won't happen until the docs are satisfied that the move will not aggrivate her current injuries.

I would love to be able to say that, when lucid, she's been smiling and her normal self, but I can't do that at the moment. I guess the pain is alot. She does recognize mom, dad, and me, and pictures of my kids. She also knows it is June of 2012, but is a little lost on the date. She still thinks it's the day she left to head back home. Doctors aren't that concerned yet as that really has been the last date for her to remember anything from. She does know something happened, but we aren't sure if she realizes the severity of it.

I wish I had better news to share, but it is early in the process, and the news, such as it is, could be a lot worse.
Thank you for your thoughts, messages, prayers, etc. I will deliver them when she is ready to get them.

Hi all,

On her way home from vacation this week, Kicks (aka Krystyn) was involved in a fairly serious accident. All that is known is one of her tires blew out and the car rolled a few times. She did have her seatbelt on, but still has numerous injuries, including a concussion, broken leg, dislocated shoulder, and assorted other bumps and bruises.

Currently, she is in a hospital in a critical care unit, mostly sedated to keep her still. She is in serious but stable condition at the moment. Doctors are cautiously optimistic she will recover, but warn it will be a long, slow road. I was lucky enough to visit her in one of her more lucid moments, and she wanted me to let you know she wasn't ignoring anyone.

There is no timeline for her recovery. She has had a few surgeries already, and may need a few more in the near future. I will do my best to provide updates now and then.

I have chosen to take off the comment approval she has set for now. Also, I will not be reading any of your private communications with her, but I will let her know of comments and well wishes left on this blog.

Wishing you all the best, and we thank you for any wishes you send her way.
