Corpse Nation's blog: "Corpse Nation"

The prototypical first entry!  Not my first blog, just first on here.  Let's see...

Professionally, I am a writer and a director in the film industry.  My writing is a degree of extremes (Not in content, but in variation) I write Dark Poetry, Scripts (film, tv, and commercial) and Random Quotations (Think Jack Handey from SNL).  Corpse Nation is a side business I started with my brother recently.  We create realistic rotting body parts ie: Skulls, Bones, Skeletons... we even do Alien Skulls and Dragons skulls.  Just something to do for fun originally but we turned it into a business based on several peoples reactions and their wanting to buy.  Why not?; we thought.  You can't buy what we make anywhere else.  If you want a cool 'horror' prop for say: Halloween, you're only going to find cheesy plastic skulls with red light up eyes and similar 'kid-friendly' scares.  Adults should be able to enjoy Halloween too, so it seemed like a fun challenge, 'fun' being the key word.

That being said, the work is very tedious.  I do 99% of the labor, and although it's a labor of love... it takes me 3 weeks to create each piece (slightly longer for a full corpse).  It's layer after layer and I'm working outside (for ventilation purposes) in the South Florida heat and humidity.  It's not the easiest working environment.  It's also not inexpensive.

Additionally, from A to Z, I create everything by hand.  Combine that with photographing many of the pieces, filming, managing the web presence, Facebook, Twitter etc... going to networking events and balancing all of this with trying to earn a living with my film career... there just aren't enough hours in the day.

I'm the definition of a person burning the candle at both ends, but I like to keep busy.  If I were financially stable, I'd travel more, I'd lay in a hammock by the beach for 10 hours without moving, but as it turns out, my mom has many health issues and needs help paying for Dr Appts, meds etc... and I have a little sister who's been battling several forms of cancer since she was 18.  She's 22 now, but the fight continues.  I'm also very much into helping the homeless and abused children.  In fact I've been trying to get the funds together to start a Non Profit Org. because I've created a TV Series concept designed to help the issue which will coincide with it.  So much going on and yet seemingly so little.

Paranormal Investigation - Yes, I've done it for many years and many years before any of these current tv shows were even conceived.

Storm Chasing - Before going into film, I went to college for Meteorology.  I've always chased storms, photographed lightning and I always will.

Random Nothingness  -  As stated above.

And any other off the wall thing I find interesting and or feel I have to comment on, but mostly zombies!!! :)
