I saw this story on the news last night and I just had to share it with all of you. Enjoy! Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 8, 2007 -- Paris Hilton fans are making an appeal of their own. An online petition at FreeParis.org is taking a stand against LA County Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer and his punishment of the 26-year-old heiress. The organization is collecting signatures, comments, and sympathy from disheartened fans across the nation. FreeParis.org organizers plans to submit one million signatures before the socialite's scheduled arrival at a Lynwood, CA detention center on June 5. They and the site's fans agree that she is being treated unfairly. "No heiress deserves to go to jail," says site co-founder and campaign organizer, Kyle Vincent. "I'm dedicated to providing this outlet for friends and fans to show their support for Paris." Vincent started the site May 4th, when he heard of the court sentencing. One petitioner writes, "Paris Hilton is being railroaded because of her celebrity. She should not have to serve time over this." Site visitors can also be trendsetters, by declaring their support with an original "Free Paris" t-shirt, bumper sticker, or gift. Vincent says the "Free Paris" shirt is popular, but the FreeParis.org online store has several other campaign slogans, such as "Team Paris," "Free Paris, then Tibet," or "Jail? That's not hot." Paris is certainly a symbol of American celebrity culture, and we should expect no less from her devoted fans. Another supporter writes, "I love Paris. She is way too fabulous for jail...and, by the way, stripes are out this summer." Other high profile court cases have spawned online petitions and fashion campaigns, but with Hilton's plans to appeal the court's imposed sentence, some think this frenzy will jump start a season of "Free Paris" apparel. I did visit FreeParis.org after hearing about all of this and I'm not gonna say whether I signed the petition or not, but I will say that I did not purchase any "Free Paris" merchandise or donate any money to ipetitions.com.

Now I used to post a fair amount of news of the weird stories from time to time and it recently occurred to me that I hadn't done so in awhile. So, without further ado I present to you not one but two news of the weird stories. Enjoy! In Neustrelitz, Germany, police called a stolen cell phone and told the guy who answered that he'd won some free beer. According to the Portland Oregonian, the alleged thief happily gave them his address so they could drop off the beer. An arrest quickly followed. Then there is the fellow in Minnesota who was stabbed nine times but couldn't identify his assailants to police because he slept through the whole thing. According to the Winona Daily News, the 23-year-old victim became aware of his injuries only when his girlfriend saw he was covered in blood. He will recover.

Three honor students in Cross River, N.Y., were suspended from their high school for saying the word "vagina" during a dramatic reading of "The Vagina Monologues." The students, Megan Reback, Elan Stahl, and Hannah Levinson, included the word because "It was not crude and it was not inappropriate," Megan told the New York Times. Officials at John Jay high school felt differently.

Everyone wants to help Britney Spears. You could feel the pain of every former and current fan of the pop princess when she shaved her head this past weekend. Since splitting from her husband Kevin Federline, the former superstar has gone through more media scrutiny than when she was with him. The stress of the divorce and having children had seemed to got the best of her. Spears checked into rehab this past weekend to escape the constant paparazzi and buzz that follows her on a constant basis. Now someone else is offering Spears another option. A hockey team of the American Hockey League wants to help Britney Spears. The Syracuse Crunch have offered Spears a quiet weekend getaway in upper New York. Front office members of the Crunch would like to extend the troubled pop singer and all expenses paid trip to the snowy city of Syracuse. It would provide Spears the opportunity to escape the constant heckling of the Hollywood paparazzi and offer her a great weekend away, highlighted with a solid hockey night of entertainment. "The team and community want to provide Britney Spears with a stress-free environment and the chance to experience a high level of hockey," said Crunch president Howard Dolgon to SI.com (a popular sporting site). "In addition to being 3,000 miles away from Hollywood , Syracuse is light years away from that pretentious environment. There won't be paparazzi within a 100 miles." This is an attempt by the Syracuse Crunch to draw some attention to their hockey team. American League Hockey teams usually go to great lengths to provide special events that will draw new customers to the sport of hockey. They like to think that once you see a game of hockey, you will become hooked. If Spears accepts the offer to come, or even does not, the Crunch will be holding several events. The Crunch will be offering free admission to any woman that comes to their February 24th game with a shaved head. If Spears does decide to take the offer, each member of the club's front office promises to shave their heads as a sign of appreciation.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A 15-year-old girl has been arrested for taking nude photographs of her self and posting them on the Internet, police said. The girl, whose identity was withheld, was accused of sending out photographs of herself in various states of undress and performing a variety of sexual acts. She sent them to people she met in chat rooms on the Internet, police said. Police seized her computer and found dozens of photographs stored on the hard drive. Authorities did not say how police learned about the girl. She has been charged with sexual abuse of children, possession of child pornography and dissemination of child pornography.
