I am having an exceptional day, so I thought I would let the world know! Right now I am in Los Angeles visiting after spending 15 months in New Orleans, working on the clean up. It is harder than I thought to go to work every day for over a year and see little or no progress. The mass destruction that the Gulf coast went through is as about as heart wrenching as anything can get. Although work is steadily being done, believe me it will be at least 10 years if not more before completion. (Of course that only goes if they remain blessed with good weather, & the mountain of people that are there to help can stick it out). This is the first so called vacation since our arrival on Thanksgiving 2005.
Being in Los Angeles its like "New Orleans" is some far removed country that few people know about. Our friends look at us like we are from another world when we tell them that we have been in Louisiana all this time and it isn't even close to being done! If you think that is check out the look on their faces when they realize we are going back in a few weeks. No one can understand unless they have been there, It feels good to be back, to see normality, daily life uninterupted. I reminds me everyday that we have so much in our lives to be thankful for. So many daily things that we all take for granted. I will never forget the feeling I had my 1st night in New Orleans, There was not one light for as far as you could see, in daylight there was the makings of an entire city, at night total blackness. We lived off of generator power from November until March. It seemed so unreal to be able to flip a switch and actually have a light come on!
So yes I am feeling good, And this is the first day of the rest of my life. Thank you folks for letting me ramble on. Be safe and say a prayer for that dear city & all it's citizens still scattered all over this wonderful country. Love, Peace & Happiness use them everyday. Good night All! Slinkie
