Ok, folks. I stayed quiet about this for so long. Now, I just wanna scream.
The girl who is busting her arse trying to keep the coffee going and the damned cinnamon buns fresh, so you have something to muck before you leave the motel to go to your "big" meeting, needs the same kind of lovin' as the housekeeper who is cleaning up after you and your everlovin' brood.
The gal who covered my breakfast shift for me, yesterday, never did that before, and all she got was "there's no coffee", "are there any cinnamon rolls left?", "you're out of this....", and the list goes on. We had a full house, and everyone wanted to come down at the same time, to eat. She just met the challenge head-on, with a smile on her face. When I did get to work, everything looked fabulous! She did an awesome job.
My whole point in all this is, you tip your waitress/waiters, so why not tip the girl who is dishing up the breakfast? Yeah, it is buffet-style, and yeah, it is in the lobby of a motel. But think about it...she is wiping off your table, putting the stuff out for you to gorge yourselves on, and trying to stay pleasant in the face of crabby people who all want their friggin' coffee at the same time.
Now, for those that don't tip the housekeepers.....:) When you stay in a hotel/motel, you're not required to plunge your toilet, make your bed, scrub your tub and sink, you don't need to dust and vaccum. Hell! We'll even take your messages so you don't have to answer the phone!
That, in itself, would be worth it for me to drop a dollar or two. And, if the company I were working for were dropping the dime, on the room, I would give a little more. But, hey. That is me. I guess I am just one of the few who does appreciate the working class.
If you are one of the few who do tip those in the hospitality/service industry, I just wanna say "THANK YOU!!!!!"
