The World Beside Me
Late after dusk; speculating what to do,
I abruptly had this urge to correspond with you,
With my paper and pen in hand,
And a sound mind,
I sought out to find the correct words,
To decipher to you,
I considered the thought of calling you,
But it was excessively late,
So instead, I went outside and sat on the porch step,
While I waited for you,
When darkness set that night,
Your appearance was not apparent to me,
I knew you were there,
Because I could sense your movements,
Stirring in the air,
Only after a bit, did I see a shadow in the sky,
And I then knew you were watching me,
Because I saw all the evidence,
Shining back into my eyes,
I said Hello, would you like to dance,
And of course you responded I would love to,
At this split second
If I had just one solitary wish,
My only existing wish would be to dance with you,
Each and every momentary day,
I know where and how I can find you,
Just look up beyond the sky,
And though I may not visually perceive you,
I know you are there lingering in the atmosphere,
I know youll always understand,
And listen to what I declare,
Sometimes, I do not even have anything to say,
I just want to know you are there,
Before I go to sleep each night,
I go outside to look for you,
I always tell you that I love you,
And let go of all the fears I have inside,
You tell me all will be just fine,
As long as you are near,
Because no matter where I am
You show me that you care.
You watch over me each night,
Shine on me when I am scared,
Cheer me up when I am in need of someone to laugh with,
Love me, unconditionally
Thats why you are my closest friend,
