Everyone knows the fairy tale story of Cinderella and her Prince Charming, but they don't know what really happened.
The truth hurts and sometimes it is ugly and this is the case with Cinderella.
Ok, she had someone help her get to the ball that night, probably an old neighbour who lent her her old 'pull gear' very much like when an older sister passes on helpful little outfits to the younger sister, this much you know and can work out.
What you don't know is what actually happened after Cinderella got to the ball….
As she stood in the doorway and made her entrance into the party, she caused quite a stir. This much history of the story tells us. What it doesn't tell you and starts to mix history with fantasy thus allowing fantasy to take over is the truth.
Whilst Cinderella stood in the door way thinking of what she should do, who should she go to talk to, why on earth had she wanted to go in the first place - pretty much like how the majority of us feel when attending a party or a networking meeting, The guys spotted her very quickly.
After a brief discussion amongst themselves, they quickly established that no one had seen her before and therefore, all the guys saw her as 'new territory'. Also, because they haven't seen her before (they've all checked if anyone has slept with her), there's a competition on to see who can be the first. Prince Charming is well versed at getting knickers off, because after all he's a Prince and in most cases, they just drop off, so he really has great confidence when it comes to chatting up the ladies.
However, when it comes to Cinderella, she doesn't quite get the rules of the game - (well she is naïve on these things as she's been often left and ignored on large by society) and so frustrates PC by not immediately accepting his advances. The fact that there was a clock chiming was pure coincidence except that its chiming hid her disgusted gasp. She thinks in fact he is so brash, crude and too direct, she ends up running away from the ball. As she was leaving the ball, his words started to come flooding back into her mind and so wasn't paying attention to where her feet were going as her heel became caught. This only serves her to make her feel even more embarrassed and so she flees especially as she hears someone coming after her.
Prince Charming feeling a little embarrassed that he finally had someone knock him back as he is not used to this behaviour gets the usual laughed at by his friends, and taunted that he is going to be losing the bet.
Not one for losing face, reputation or bets, Prince Charming decides that he needs to win this bet in order to stop his friends japes and teasing and so runs after her and seeks her out, using the shoe he found as a rouse.
Once he finds her, he again charms her, this time knowing he can't be quite so direct and works out from talking to her that in order to sleep with her and so win the bet, all he needs to do is to tell her he fell instantly in love with her and that he wants to marry her. Which she is gullible enough to believe!
When Prince Charming next meets with his gang, he brags to his friends about what happened and they snub him coz they think he went too far and he is made to feel a social leper. In order to get back in with 'the in-crowd' and recoup face, he feels moral bound to go through with the wedding plans.
