Normally I am not one for blogging, but today I feel as tho I need to I am that disgusted with Rhode Island.
So back in December my cousin was the passenger in a automobile that was t-boned due to the driver he was with being an idiot (that's putting it nicely). He insisted that he was okay to drive when they tried to take his keys....my cousin and the other passenger both tried to get him to let them drive...but again he insisted he was fine and okay to drive. Now, to me if you have to try and take someones keys away obviously that means they are not okay to drive and you shouldn't be driving with them so I do admit my cousin made a bad judgment call still getting in the car with him.
The driver walked away from the accident, no injuries...just a ticket for a suspended license. The other passenger had serious internal injuries. My cousin however almost died cause the t-bone was on his side of the car, he was pinned in the back seat couldn't move, was knocked out and had to be cut out with the jaws of life. When he finally came to they were pulling him out of the car. He ended up with a broke pelvis, it was broken in multiple spots. He was bed ridden for a month and a half, couldn't walk at first but then eventually started walking with crutches then a cane.
Now here is where the state of RI makes me angry. The driver clearly was drunk and high. Turns out he had no insurance either tho he told the cops he did (mind you this was his mothers car, not even his). How is it that he was never given a breathalyzer? Why was his insurance not checked? Why the hell was he only given a ticket for a suspended license?? Why does this idiot pretty much get off while two people who were driving with him were badly injured, two people who almost died and he might not have to pay anything because he had no insurance!
This makes no sense to me what so ever...only in RI can you almost kill people that were driving with you and you have to pay nothing. Oh did i mention the accident was HIS FAULT...cause he pulled out in front of the car that t-boned him. Nice isn't it?
This is my rant for the day...i'm sure there might be more in the future.
