Subject:The Sparrow and The Raven
The morning mist so thick
A blade can cut through air
My tears blend a shadow...
my own reflective portrait
Of grey and white and black
Yet here my sancuary bleeds
I keep coming back
My voice rings out;
Goddessssssssss are you here?
Ohhhhh Godsssssssss are you with me?
Can you feel my wrath? My pain?
Sorrow lifted the bird
who fell out of its nest
The woman who fakes that smile
Well she looks normal to me?
Yet why does the Raven come?
He wants to knock again!
Ah hah! On my door! Yes on my door!
Yet he took a quick turn
To grab back a piece of what was his
The sparrow picked it from his beak
Raven said, "Give it back it is not yours
nor does it belong to me!"
Sparrow said sarcastically, Well then
who does it belong to?"
Raven said, "All of us!"
Sparrow said, "What food is it anyway?"
It is not food, Raven said.
I call it pain!
Where shall you take this pain? Sparrow said.
I take it to the meadows and leave it there. Raven said.
What does pain become then? Sparrow said.
It becomes our Mother! Raven said.
OUR MOTHER???? Sparrow shouts.
Yes she is the seed of our Earth
I always place "IT" there
"IT" was given to me by the Sun!
When she eats it,
She then becomes the cosmos
And she becomes our wings to help us fly
She becomes us all in spirit
And she becomes us when we cry
See the mist dear Sparrow?
You can not see through it
For it contains Nothing
Nothing? Cries Sparrow.
Nothing. Said Raven.
Well if nothing is in the mist of sorrow
And the Earth Mother feeds from Raven
Where then oh where does White Dove reside?
White Dove resides in all of us!
She is the white clouds that form
our patterns of thought
She is the lace that forms
Across the waves of the ocean
She is the white froth
forming across the lips
from a hungry pack of wolves
And she is the white of our eyes!
But what gives us color
if mist is only white? said Sparrow.
The mist contains our sadness and laughter
They are our rainbow-coloured crystals
The cauldron is where we place them
They become our ocean and rivers
Our waterfalls and mountain springs
And our chalice becomes the color of wine
that we pass and drink among each other, said Raven.
You are wise, said Sparrow.
I am not wise, said Raven.
I learned through what I carried inside my beak.
Pain? said Sparrow.
Yes Pain. said Raven.
We must all walk among the dead to live! said Raven.
Oh, said Sparrow.
I am beginning to understand.
Sparrow curved his head downward
and into the grass within the meadow
He dropped the seed out of his mouth.
Raven cawed, three times into the mist.
The Sun came as three rays of light
bursting through the thick white mist
omitting a golden glow into everything.
As the mist lifted the birds sang gleefully.
The squirrels scurried among the oak
And the Sparrow, well he became a colorful
Butterfly and landed on a yellow flower
to suck some nectar!
Sweet nectar of the Goddess!
And it became so!
