On February 9th, one of our cockatiels. We got them from my ex father in law, and to me, they were noisy mess makers. One minute Sunshine was squawking, the next minute, she was dead on the bottom of the cage. We're not sure what happened, but we do know the result.
So all we have left now is Choco. We believe he's the male. I'm pretty positive. So we figured a few days of adjustment, and things would be back to normal.
He was up at 6am, squawking and calling out for her. Nonstop. Til' 10 PM. So we've gotten a mirror to keep him occupied.
Now I like to think that I don't care that much about the animals, but I feel horrible for him. So I decided to go shopping for another bird so he has a partner. I don't want to breed them, I just want him happy. On with the search.
I've found birds from $40 to $150. The cheapskate in me likes the $40 bird, but I have fallen love with another one, Pearl colored, and she's expensive.
The problem is, you have to introduce them, so now I have to buy another cage, because we gave our extra cage away, thinking we'd never need it. Luckily we have a lead on a big cage, so they have room to move around, so we can keep the birds side by side, so they can acclimate with each other, because the older birds tend to pick on the younger.
I had raised aggresive fish before, and had to do the same thing, but I was hoping to avoid this. But I don't want to get a new bird, and have one hurt the other.
For all the animal lovers, once its all situated, I'll post some new pics.
Thanks for reading about nothing much. If anyone has cockatiel tips, though, let me know.
