We don't always know the impact we've made on someone's life,
a simple smile, a decision made out of desperation.
Each action we perform creates a series of ripples
that touches one person, and then another. . .
It is our choice whether or not our actions will create
soothing life-giving ripples, like the gentle breeze across a pond-
or the death waves of a hurricane force that breeds destruction.
 
How I wish I were an artist instead of a poet,
I would draw a picture of the angel who talked you through
the decision you made when you were fourteen-years-old,
when you threw the switch that diverted a train from disaster.
You caused a ripple. . .
It was God's plan for you to save someone's life that day-
Perhaps that life was you.
 
You have been a ripple of life to many.
You were the son, worthy of a father's pride;
and grew into a hard-working man of high standards,
with a backbone of iron, and a mind like a steel trap.
You were the compassionate haven to a brother in need,
but most of all,
you are the devoted and loving husband to the woman of your dreams.
 
God created us, each, for a reason and for a season.
There is never a time when our life becomes of no value.
Oh, the ripples we make may not seem as large,
when our body loses its strength,
and our mind's not as sharp;
the ripples are there
just the same.
 
The ripples are there when love shines from your eyes,
for the woman you love, and who loves you.
The ripples are there when you speak a kind word,
and your smile shows that you care.
The ripples are there when you face your day
with courage and trust in the Lord.
And the ripples are there
that started long ago,
and have not
reached  
their  
goal.
