I remember you by silver,
by aqua, teal, and gold.
I remember you by newness,
by roundness, by tarnish, by old.
I remember you by laughter,
by anger, sweat, and tears.
I remember you by moments,
by day, by night, by years.
I remember you by smiles,
by frowns, passions, and leers.
I remember you with strength,
with calm, fire, and fears.
I remember you by leather,
by satin, silk, and strings.
I remember you by circles,
by images, by memories, by rings.
I always seem to remember,
through everyday things,
all the thoughts that belong to you,
and by the way the emotion stings.
They come to me in waves of sadness,
passion, fear, and joy.
Yet, we're better off the way we are
me a girl and you a boy.
We;re better off as friends,
come hell or waters high,
but as my friend I'm here with you,
from memories till we die.
So, when memories flood,
the space within my mind,
I think of all we've been through
and am happy with what I find.
Together we're a lesson,
one learned and shared, and know.
We've loved and fought, and lost
and laid each other low.
But we're older and wiser,
even through the end,
we had a passion but
I feel we're better off as friends.
In memories I loved you
held you safe and warm,
Inside my heart those memories live,
forever held in form.
I look back and know,
that we're stronger than they say,
to have love and lost and grown
to know we're better off this way.
