The "Other Guys" Not All Americans Not Quite All-Underappreciated
I will do 3-5 "Other Guys" at each position.
QBs:
1st Alex Brink is a 6-foot-3 207 pound senior quarterback at Washington State. Through his junior campaign, Brink has completed 57.3 percent of his passes for 7,095 yards. He has thrown 50 touchdowns and 28 interceptions. His quarterback efficiency rating is 131.78. Despite these good numbers, the Cougars have endured three straight seasons without a bowl berth. As a starter, Brink is 12-16 over the past three seasons. With a best 4.67 on a fast surface and with improved zip on the ball due to increased strength and better mechanics Brink could go from a fringe to a day 1 prospect with good workouts.
During a game against Oregon State University in the 2005 season Brink set a new school record with 531 passing yards. Ahead 30-16 at the break, the Cougars, however, lost that game due in part to defensive and special teams lapses and other mistakes, but also because Brink threw 1 touchdown against 4 interceptions. For much of the 2006 season, Brink led the Pac-10 in passing yards. He was named second team All-Pac-10 for his efforts. The Cougars were at one point in the 2006 season ranked No. 25 in the nation with a 6-3 record, but lost their final three games to finish the year at 6-6.
2nd Chase Clement is not the preseason all conference this year, or even the best known QB prospect named Chase this year [Missou's Daniel is] nor the most physically imposing prospect at just over 6 feet even and around 208 lbs, his arm is not a cannon and though mobile he will not be mistaken for Steve Young or Mike Vick, however he is one of those QBs who just gets it done, [Think Jeff Garcia or Jim Zorn]. Clement Completed 57.7% of his passes (153 of 265) to just miss the school record of 57.8% by Bert Emanuel in 1993 and his 1,707 yards passing was the fifth best total in school history and the most by a Rice QB since 1990. He threw just five interceptions in 265 attempts, including a streak of 120 straight without an interception before throwing one against ECU on his last play of the regular season, also his total of 2,188 yards of total offense was fourth best in school history.
3rd Joe Flacco, Delaware-Though many are familiar with Ricky Santos, Flaacco at over 6'5" and 230 plus pounds might be a better prospect to transition from I-AA to NFL. This despite the fact taht he has battled to stay on the field at UD his career totals are Totals 14 games 265 Comps 421 Atts 2,794 yards 62.9% 18TDs 10 Ints.
