Despite being so nervous about it Monday, I am really enjoying it. I'm a one-on-one aide to a five year old boy who has autism. He's also nonverbal, which is definitely challenging. Although apparantly he's now doing things he's never done before, like painting and tolerating getting his hands messy. He also ate an entire cupcake Thursday, and really really liked it, haha. I think he would have tried to eat the wrapper if I hadn't made him throw it away. According to the other teachers, before he would only eat the frosting. So maybe I'm just good luck?
I don't know when to tell my boss I need a week off in May, but I need to soon because I have two weeks off for Easter-the special ed kids are on a school schedule. Since I just started, I don't really know when would be appropriate. It'd be really annoying if they don't let me have off though; my family goes to South Carolina every year to visit my aunt and cousins. Next year we probably won't be going because my parents want to go to Hawaii for their anniversay. Meh. I need to go clean...I knew I should have taken my meds this morning, I am soooo distracted today!
