The night hangs thick in the air
the crickets sing a lullaby
that hums
throughout the mountainside
the yip and howl of the coyote prowl
whispers deep and low
and high above the yellow moon
no stars
this night do show
just the clouds
adrift so silently
and a beautiful
bright standing orb
the only light within my sight
the moon
full
and standing guard
a watchman
at the door
of the quiet peaceful dark
the mood of the night
alive and well
the feel of life in the breeze
mysterious and pure
