The Hound and the Hare were the best song-and-dance team in the forest. With their fine harmonies and witty repartee, they dazzled audiences from hill to dale. The Hare sang most of the solos, and his tap number -- with its array of jumps and spins -- generated wild applause. The Hound played the straight man, whose self-important air was often punctured by the Hare's droll asides. In clearing after clearing, young animals sought the Hare's auto- graph. The Hound was often all but ignored. One day a Snake came to call. "I would like to sign you to a solo contract," he said to the Hare. "I think you can be a major star." The Hare drew himself up to his full height. "You obviously know nothing about show business," he said to the Snake. "Without the Hound, I would not be half so good. His sense of timing and rhythmic nuance is exquisite. It is both of us together that makes everything work." The Snake slithered away. "That was pretty decent of you," said the grateful Hound. The Hare smiled. "Come on," he said. "We've got to get ready for our next show."
Moral: Every person's contribution is important.
