I've had a beard since I was about 12. So recently I've noticed beards are making a comeback. That's good I suppose. Now I don't feel like a complete pariah. But, at the same time, it's kind of annoying. It seems people are starting to do this whole "all bearded people look alike thing". Maybe it's just me that see's this, but I bet it happens to others.
The other night I went out with my buddy Rooster. We started drinking early on after a hard day of tattooing. We hit up this bar that had good beer at good prices and started to knock back several drinks...I lost track around beer 16 and shot number 5. Anyways, at some point, everyone in the damn bar decided to come up to me and tell me that I look like "that guy from The Hangover". I'm assuming they mean Zach Galifianakis.
While I don't mind when people tell me I look like someone famous (for the longest time people told me I looked like Bill Murray in the Royal Tennenbaums) what annoys me is when they ask me to quote lines. So for the rest of the night I got "hey, say this line, or that line". Really? Do you honestly think I want to do that? I'm all for a good time, and I enjoy good comedy, but don't ask me to do that. I've got my own awesome material to hand out.
After awhile we went to this strip club that a buddy of ours works at. It was not very exciting and kind of dead. So Rooster decides to see if he can convince people I am Zach Galifianakis. Well, it worked. I got phone numbers thrown at me and free drinks. Will I call these ladies? No...but damn it was funny. I even got to use the V.I.P. toilet. I don't know what was so V.I.P. about it, but I felt special.
So the next time you see some sexy bearded manbeast such as myself, please don't assume he wants to quote movie lines or hear how he looks like someone else. We have feelings too you know.
