Toy Called God is a groove Metal band from Brentwood California that mixes crushing distortion, great hooks and an amazing ability to make your head bang involuntarily. The band was started when former rhythm guitarist Mike Rukavina delivered a package to former drummer Zack Cliff's house. The pair started jamming and occasionally adding future TCG singer Tyson Cliff to the mix. After Zack and the former guitarist posted a Craigslist ad for lead guitarists, former Pittsburgh Pa. guitarist Patrick Donovan was brought out to audition. The pair liked Patrick's playing enough to invite him back the following week, to jam with them and Tyson to see if the match was good for all four. The four then placed an ad for a bassist, and soon Dustin Phillips was added to the Toy Called God mix bringing the band count to 5 members. After rehearsing for a few months, it was decided by four members of the band(Zack, Dustin, Tyson and Patrick) that despite all that the now former guitarist had done to help start the band, they would have to relieve Mike of his duties for the band to move forward. The band then began playing shows and destroying stages. Things continued to go well for the band including the announcement of an endorsement deal with Fireplant Guitars in July of 2011 and Pick Caddy in September of 2011. In November 2011 Zack Cliff left the band for personal reasons. After tapping many resources Bay Area Vet Sean Henson was suggested by friends, came out to audition and was a natural fit. In December 2011 Toy Called God was picked up for endorsement by Knucklehead Guitar Strings! The band released our Debut CD August 5th 2012 with Kill Devil Hill in Oakland California. On August 15th 2012 The band parted ways with Sean Henson. John Riggs formerly of Dedvolt and others stepped into the role and is the current drummer for TCG.
