What are you waiting for?

WELL ITS BEEN AWHILE SINCE I POSTED A NEW BLOG AND SO I HAVE DECIDED TO DO SO NOW THAT IM NOT IN SO MUCH PAIN. LATELY AFTER DIALYSIS WITHIN AN HOUR I HAVE BEEN HAVING VERY BAD VIOLENT MIGRAINES. WELL ACTUALLY WORSE THEN THAT, TO WHERE I HAVE HAD TO GO TO THE ER AND SIT THERE FROM 3-8HRS IN ORDER TO GET A SHOT TO CALM MY HEAD DOWN, MY DOCTOR THINKS THAT MY BRAIN IS SWELLING, OR MY EQUALIBIUM IS GETTING OFFSET. THERE IS A ANOTHER POSSIBILITY AND THAT IS THAT THERE IS A 3RD FLUID REPOSITIONING WHICH ACTUALLY TAKES THE FLUID FROM MY BRAIN AND MY SPINAL CORD AND ITS DROPPING MY BLOOD PRESSURE SO LOW THAT ITS CAUSING THE HEADACHES, AND TRUST ME I WOULD NOT EVEN WISH THEM ON MY WORST ENEMY. OF COURSE THE ONLY ENEMIES I HAVE ARE ON HERE, LOL ITS THE TRUTH THO, NO MATTER HOW SAD IT IS SO MANY WANT DRAMA AND I DONT PLAY THAT GAME. I AM SO THANKFUL FOR MY BOO, SCOOTER BLACK, AND THE DEVITA TECHS, THAT I WAS EVEN GOING TO STOP DIALYSIS AND LET NATURE TAKE ITS COURSE, BUT WITH THE SUPPORT FROM ALL I HAVE WENT AND STAYED WITH THE TREATMENT. I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS EVER SINCE I FELL CHRISTMAS EVE AND WAS ADMITTED IN THE HOSPITAL, BUT FRIDAY THEY TRIED SOMETHING DIFFERENT, INSTEAD OF REUSING MY DIALYZER, I AM NOW USING A THROW AWAY ONE TIME USE, NO PULLING FLUIDS OFF ME AND I WENT IN STONED SO THAT I WOULD EVEN BE MORE COMFORTABLE AND GUESS WHAT? IT WORKED, SO NO NEED TO WORRY WE WILL CONTINUE THIS AND I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE BUTTON HOLES AND IT HURTS LIKE HELL BUT WHAT IT IS THAT THEY USE THE SAME SPOT OVER LIKE 6-9 TIMES AND BUILD A TRAC SIMULAR TO A PIERCING, AND THEN WHEN ITS FORMED THEN I WONT BE USING SHARPS ANYMORE, SO THEREFORE NO MORE INFATRATING OR THE PAIN INVOLVED. AND IT WILL NOT SCAR OR RUIN MY ARTERY WALL WHICH IS ALL WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN. I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HAS HELPED ME AND SUPPORTED ME AND FOR YOUR PRAYERS, GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERYONE OF MY FRIENDS, FANS AND ESPECIALLY MY FAMILY ON HERE, SO HAVE A GOOD ONE AND THE NEXT TIME I POST A BLOG IT WILL HAVE EVEN MORE BETTER NEWS, STAY SAFE MUAHS AND HUGS TO ALL.

WHAT IS HEMODIALYSIS?

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket I thought I would write this blog in order for my friends to really understand what I am going thru and what happens to a person that has to be on Hemodialysis in order to stay alive until the transplant if that is what route they want to travel. So thank you for taking the time to read this and have a good one, feel free to share this with your friends here, because so many do not understand how or why one has to live on the dialyzer. Hemodialysis uses a machine to clean your blood. The dialysis machine has a filter on it called a hemodialyzer or dialyzer. The dialyzer works like an artificial kidney and removes the waste and the extra fluid that builds up when your kidneys are no longer working. In my case, I was born with Polycistic Kidney Disease and was only born with one, which was small. Hemodialysis can't do all the work kidneys do. Healthy kidneys work all day and everyday. Hemodialysis usually occurs three times a week for about 4 hours each time. Your time is based on your needs. Your kidney doctor orders the length of your treatment in order to help meet your body's need. Right now I only have to be on the machine for 3 hours each day and go three times a week. Doing a hemodialysis treatment, your blood is carried through plastic tubes to the dialyzer to be cleaned. Once your blood is cleaned, it's returned from the dialyzer to your body through another plastic tube. Only about one cup of blood travels through the dialysis machine at a time. For hemodialysis you need a way for your blood to be safely removed and returned to your body. Most blood vessels are not strong enough or big enough to carry blood to and from the dialysis machine. To do this I had to have surgery to create a pathway called an access. An access can be in your arm, leg, chest, or neck. There are three kinds of access-Fistula (which is what I have), Graft, and Catheter. A fistula (which is what I will tell you about seeing it is the most safe and effective access) sugically connects an artery and a vein. A fistula needs weeks to months to heal and to "mature" before it can be used. When matured it becomes larger and stronger and better for dialysis. Its considered the best access because it last longer, has fewer problems, gives better dialysis results. I had mine done in Feb. 2007 because I knew it needed to heal and mature before I was to be put on dialysis, then I would be ready, set, and go. For each dialysis treatment, two needles are put into your access, and yes it does hurt, I am now using 15 gauge needles, and man are they big to me, lol, hell my belly peircing isnt even that big. One line pulls the blood out and the other puts it back into you. I have enclosed pics of me on my machine during pj day at the center, yes I am a goober, that way you have a better understanding as to what the machine looks like and how it works. I hope you have enjoyed this blog and have a little more understanding as to what kidney failure is all about and the treatment options that are out there, I am currently working on dental now so that I may get on the National Kidney Transplant List, dental is all I have to do left. I am hoping on getting on the list by the end of Feb. 2008. I have enjoyed writing this as much as I have enjoyed educating you as to how dialysis does work and why its done to make one survive until their transplant, if thats what the individual wants. I may not look sick or act sick nor will you hear me complain about my health. I am in End State Renal Failure, so therefore to stay alive I must live and depend on my machine for now, until then have a good one and stay safe, and thank you for reading my blogs. If you do have any questions for me then please dont hesitate asking for my shout box is open for business, lol. Hugs and Kisses to all my friends that I have meet on here, for you are why I keep going and for the reason I am on here, for support and for people to understand and make the public aware of this disease. Blessed Be.

BLESSED BE, SINCERELY, SCOOTER BLACK"EVILTAZS KEEPER"
Well alot of you have been keeping an eye on me and the shit I have to go through in order to be on the national kidney transplant list, so I thought I would share with you on the progress wheather it be painful or not, but first I wowuld like to share a letter I recieved from a friend on here and this is what keeps me going and keeps my head up because no matter what u go through in life there is always someone that is alot worse off then you, this letter was sent by rapclifton. Your Spirit Amazes. "Hey lady you mentioned yesterday that you were off to dialysis casually as a woman who was on her way to the mall...your spirit is truely admirable and amazing. The world is over-populated with "why me whiners" and you are diffently not among that group. Life is sometimes like playing poker...sometimes you get a shitty hand dealt to you and have to decide to fold or play...you are a player!! I am so glad to have had the good fortune to meet you and read your blogs and will continue to do so for your spirit amazes...your friend..Rich With that said many thanks to rapclinton for letters like that keep my head up and makes me stay strong, muahs babe and thanks a million. Ok in order to get on the transplant list for a kidney there are so many things that have to be done, I have had to have a mammogram done, pap smear, stop smoking and have all my dental done because the infection goes straight to your heart and kidneys, without the dental done then the chance of rejection is so much greater and I am thankful the the National Kidney Foundation has found me a dentist to donate his time and services to me free of charge. Now thats so sweet, the pain is well worth the rewards I will recieve with a new kidney that I am willing to do whatever necassary to accomplish my goals and the dental is the last to be done, I have wiped the list out within 2wks of starting the long road of recovery. I have had 2 pulled about 3wks ago and today I had 3 pulled this is all been on the left side, with polysistic kidney disease and being born with one has not been healthy for my dental, but I have 4 more teeth to pull on the right side, and not to mention, My smile is going to look so much prettier and whiter and healthier. So I am so thankful for my new dentist and his staff. When I had complications from the last extraction, Dr. Rusty Coad, came into the office to meet me on a saturday and I felt so bad that I took him away from hunting, now that is a true down to earth dentist, and I thank the Lord everyday for him and for my friends I have made and found on here, not to mention Scooter Black for the care and love he gives me and helping me thru this time of my life, he makes it so much easier to deal with the illness and is into learning as much as he can about my terminal illness and he knows that dialysis is a treatment not a cure and there is no guanatee that I will still stay alive and takes each day with me that he has to the fullest and wants to make my life less stressful and he is there for me no matter how I feel or what mood I am in, he deals with it better than I do at times, so at this time I would love to say thank u to all of you for the care and understanding, I know I dont look sick but I love to use my poker face to mask the pain and the confusion, God Bless You and your Loved Ones at this time of year. Keep your head up and listen to others and you will be rewarded in some way. Love all of you and thank u for listening to me on this matter. I know alot do not know much about Kidney disease and failure so therefore I am trying to shed light of the subject, until next time stay safe and count your blessings because there is always somebody out there worse than what u have going on, may not seem like it but trust me there is. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Tammie aka eviltaz247
