T.T.D.

Good Morning. Tuesdays from here on out will be considered Tuesday Tirade Day or TTD for short. You know, I am as electrically inclined as anyone can be, so I thought.. I have worked over thirty years in sales in the electrical distribution market. So mainly any question on electrical needs I can answer right? Well I find out I am brain dead when it comes to component issues with stereo receivers and TV and DVD hook ups.. Am I alone in this issue or what? My gosh I feel like an infant when it comes to hooking up components to the TV. Case in point. SONY had on sale a stereo receiver at BEST-BUY this weekend so I thought heck ours is out dated and behind times (which basically means the same thing) it was an old Magnavox unit so why not change it out. Oh MY GOD!!!! There is not enough alcohol in Egypt to put it bluntly to get me behind that TV set ever again. I spent 3 hours trying different combinations on this or that’s to come to a conclusion I will pay a service to come in and hook the components up together so everything works off one remote. And have you ever read the simple instructions they give you to hook your system up to make everything work together and properly? Oh I want to meet that person who writes these directions down in a dark hallway sometime.. you damn skippy I do. I would give that person a lesson in how to… You know, Europe has it correct. I say that not picking on the US but, my gosh keep everything the same. The IEC standard is this. Ok, going into my electrical background knowledge so pardon this little dab into that market. The IEC standard means simply this. All relays, starters, push buttons and like devices need to interchange with one another. That means if you have an ALLEN BRADLEY device and a TELEMECHANIC device they best interchange or they do not get the CE rating. So why does the electronic division of componentry (like the word? I made it up) not take a hint. Make it simple to work together with other devices. I know there are so many TV’S and not all TV sets hook-ups are all that similar. But, make them that way so people do not slit their wrists trying to hook up components together. Holey smokes it should be an in and out venture. Not teaching Trigonometry to kindergartners. Or at least have a section dedicated to various TV sets (named branded) and I know the instruction manual would have added pages to list all but my gosh.. Again I am not a goober but feel like one when trying to hook up a Satellite TV Box with DVR to a surround sound system having a DVD player, a VCR, and the Stereo Receiver to the back of each unit so they all work together…. There is a service waiting to be born right there ladies and gentlemen. Custom Component Hook-ups the business can be called CCH for short. These tech’s would be like the geek squad traveling around not in black and white VW’S but in Mini vans with extra component cords, jacks you name it and instructions on every TV set known to man in bible form. There is a business waiting to happen, Hell I would pay dearly just to save aggravation of hook-up frustration from TV set deviations. That saying there could be the motto saying of the company. Can you imagine? Just take for instance. One tech hooking up 2-3 families components each hour with say a price tag of $50.00 each stop not component mind you. In a normal 8 hour day that would be $1200.00 a day… color me happy with that kind of change. Other then that how is your day going? You know getting something off ones chest is good. I feel like I could hook up any component known to man now…well..except that damned SONY STEREO RECEIVER!!!!! Have a wonderful day. Two huge hugs and various pats Marty
