SWEET * CYANIDECyanide- a colourless, volatile, extremely poisonous, flammable liquid.The four piece South African based band Sweet Cyanide is anything but colourless.Cyanide is said to melt at 4 degrees Celsius which I think re-enforces the fact if one of the four members had to change or were slightly different in any way the band would cease to exist… melt from the music scene.The BeginningStarted in 2004, Sweet Cyanide gets the same reaction when you see them for the first time, myself included, they look like kids! But by the middle of their opening track all misconceptions are shed, the three 16 year old musicians and the 18 year old vocalist write and compose music good as or even better than many other local bands I've seen.My opinion:their musical ability is complex but structured, edgy with intensity and emotion through the melody “just get down and rock to it! They draw their inspiration from S.A as well as international bands: 36 Crazy Fists, Darkest Hour, Underoath, Hawthorne Heights, Wickhead and 16 Stitch but not sounding like any of them, their sound is fresh and new.
