Another day, another dollar...
I remember you
under perfect summer skies
smile
immaculate
I remember you...
Today the heavens are drapped blue
light and clear
and I can almost taste the freshness with every breath
summers kissing the mind
with joyous ocean thoughts
and bakeing everything light
into pastel shades
even drab grays and browns
are taking on ice cream hues
Laughter calls from every corner of the galaxy
unseen children reveling in fantasy freedoms
voices drifting over roof tops
and through open windows
echoing in the mind
with tastes of holidays
from every past
I sat up in my bed, this morning,
and stared through the low open window opposite
stared out at the early morning vista
soaking in the carnival that is summer
what should I do today?
what should I do today?
The lake sounds like a good idea
half on green
half in blue
the cooling kiss of waters
as it tastes my body
gently loving me
with all it's wisdom
or there is the city
the action
the girls...
or...
the verdant green parks
lush and cooling
full of laughter and activity
summer offers so many alternatives
the list is endless
I've always loved summer...
Or...
I could lay in bed forever with memories of summer
of fairs
and carnivals
and beaches
and lush green parks
illicit parties
and skinny dipping...
I was always a runner when I was younger
why walk anywhere when it can be run in a fraction of the time?
I remember one summer
me and Paul and two girls went down to the lake
we were young
we were guys
we had expectations
and the girls gave us hope
we had a good night
much laughing and joking
and then the girls suggested we went swimming
well...
we had nothing to wear
but that idea made the suggestion appeal to us even more...
So...
Well Paul and I stripped off
ran towards the ocean
turned around to see our beautiful dates in all the glory that nature intended
only to be let down by the sight of them running off with our clothes
We had to run home about 3 miles
totaly naked
totaly embaressed
Every time a car came past we would try to hide our embaressment
but there was no where to hide
so we were greeted by catcalls
and laughter instead
it was the early hours of the morning
but believe me
try running naked down the road and you'd be suprised how many vehicles get out that time of night...
We eventually got back to Pauls house
it seemed the logical place to head for
he lived nearest to the lake
and we snuck around to the back door
gently unlocked it and tiptoed inside
we'd made it
'Hi boys
had a good night?'
His mom was there
I could have died
I never could look her straight in the eyes again after that...
I could lay on my bed all day
remembering summers of different flavors
or even just relax and lie here
watching the domestic scene through the window opposite
happy worlds
framed in my frame
more relaxing
and satisfying than any TV show...
Sometimes there doesn't need to be a story
sometimes a smile is enough...
I've always dreamt while sleeping
whilst awake
in deep clear oceans
where I never drown
alone with my history...
My sister wrote me a poem about the ocean
she knows how attached I am to it...
I think her poem is beautiful
You remind me of the ocean
so free
yet so trapped
in miles
and miles
but angels
everywhere
are watching over you
everywhere
you ever go
even if you dont know
you remind me of the ocean
drowning in words
words you've heard
from people you know
crying inside and out
but not for show
no one knows
you're drowning
but still you're sounding
normal
like always
you remind me of the ocean
you dont moan like human
you moan
like you've been tossed
and thrown
on your own
made of stone
you moan
from heart
from the start
you've been torn apart..
thrown off the chart
you remind me of the ocean
its wild and free
and loud and tossed
but no matter what
I love the ocean
I love you
Beautiful don't you think?
I'm so proud of her
I'd be proud of her at any age
but to write that at 12...
My Sis is the best...
Only the ocean links it all...
Only the ocean is constant
that with the tide is static
whilst the rest ebbs and flows in imitation
