It's amazing how some people can have no regard for the well being of another and be in the medical profession. While I respect most persons who are in the field of medicine; doctors, nurses, assistants, emt's, and so on... There are some that are just plain stupid, rude, and incompetent. Now, I understand that the field of medicine changes constantly with new medicines, treatments, diseases, and illness, it still amazes me how much one who should be somewhat current on procedure and diagnosis can be so damn stupid.
My mother, who has many medical problems, ranging from a stroke to high blood pressure, arthritis to restless leg syndrome, was told a few years ago, that surgery would fix her back problem that has been painful to her. She needs to have 2 discs fused together, and they have been trying to keep her blood pressure under control along with a few other issues including the blood thinners for the stroke she had and such. She has had countless MRI's, x-rays, tests, shots and so on... and the doctors... yes plural, 2 different doctors, said that this surgery would fix her "worst" problem that would cause her much relief in everyday life. However, she went to a surgeon and then another, and both looked at the same, exact same, results to the all that the previous doctors had been looking at for a couple of years, and these 2 new doctors confirmed that not only is there the 2 disc that could be fused and the arthritis, but they said it is clear on the results of the MRI's and such that there is degenerative disc disease and then some spinal disease that there apparently is no surgery or cure for and they medicate it with standard pain killers. My mother in such a state of shock over the fact that she would never get better, didn't write the name down of the actual disease, and when I get it, I will update, but both of the new doctors said anyone with a degree should have been able to see it, and then they could have started a differnt plan of action over a year ago.
My parents tried to get disability for my mother over a year ago, and she was turned down based on the disgnosis that she could have the surgery and be well again. So, now, the doctors are saying, she is a 100% disabled. WTF! Some doctors have no freaking heart or compassion for their patients. Those old two doc's that my mother will never go back to, have caused my mother undue heartache dealing with pain and shots that do not help, incomplete diagnosis, and improper care.
I would rather hear a doctor tell me to go get another opinion since he is missing something and just can't put his finger on it... I would rather that than to be assuming and believing in the hope that a surgical procedure could fix it.
Again, I respect most in the field... but there are some that just plain... need to be shot!
