I remember, clear as a bell.......... I was working. Falcon Drilling, rig 4, we were drilling to run our 7 inch casing. Thought the truck drivers were full of shit, or it was just a random accident. Then we turned on the radio in my Explorer............
As a proud american, I was shocked, outraged, and really fuckin pissed. And admittedly scared. Not for me, I can handle myself. I was scared for my children. So shocked that something like this could happen in their lifetime. As an american, no, as a member of the human race, I grieved for the loss of everyone. Not just life, but those who would be forced to live on through this. Fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, grand parents, grandchildren, who would have to live with this atrocity commited on those who were totally defensless. Shows what kind of cowards they are, doesn't it? Typical bullies picking on those who are weaker than them. This date will forever be branded into the heart of every american, but moreso on those who had to be there for it. I mean no disrespect to our brave combat veterans who were there, but this was worse than Pearl Harbor........
As a firefighter, I grieved for the loss of my brother and sister firefighters. Bravely giving their lives in the line of duty to try to save those who could not save themselves. Firefighters, police, and medical services. Knowing full well the risk involved bravely did their best to try to save as many as possible. They say "This one's a hero, that one's a hero" Bullshit. Those who gave their lives so that others might be saved are the heroes. The people that brought down Flight 93 before it could reach it's target and kill more people are heroes just the same as all the emergency responders that answered the call on that monday. Gave their lives so that some would be saved.

So, when September 11th comes, take a minute to have a moment of silence to honor the memories of all those who were taken from us, and to thank them for their sacrifice so others may live. And also take a moment to send some thought to our brave military personnel, who are trying to make sure that is never repeated.
Just remember people, 9-11-01 proved ANYONE can be a hero................
