Very First Blog on here, so bare with me. Some may wonder what the car is in my profile or what's been done to it for those that know what it is .. It's a 1999 SVT Mustang Cobra #3753 The front 2 pistons broke at the oil control ring due to too many 7000+ RPMs and not enough oil able to sustain lubrication. Instead of paying over $5,000 for a replacement, I picked up a used Triton 5.4L from a wrecked 2004 F150. I got some 2000 Lincoln Navigator Heads (DOHC) and some 4.6 to 5.4 adapters to install the stock intake and everything on the engine just to get it running. Just purchased some forged pistons and h-beam rods for the engine and I'm going to pull it and have it bored to fit the pistons. as is, the stock 5.4L with all stock Cobra engine parts (well except the Navi heads - but the only diff is that the intake ports are much larger than the Cobra ones, and it has cooling ports on the exhaust side for added heat reduction on the aluminum heads), the engine untuned put out 310HP/350TQ .. throwing in a basic let-me-limp-the-car-home tune gave me 320HP/360TQ .. I've got another set of heads I'm going to port and polish and will add a different intake on it once I get the engine bored and ready to go. should take me up to 350HP/365TQ or so without anything else - until tune it with the laptop software I just got. Later on I'm going to save up and win the lottery so I can install the twin turbo kit on it and the HP will be between 750-1100 with the proper tuning and all the extra bells and whistles.
