Seawall baby's mother arrested in New York 07:38 PM CST on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 KHOU.com staff report The mother of a baby boy, whose body was found dumped near the Galveston Seawall last month, has been arrested by federal agents in New York. Brazoria County District Attorney Jeri Yenne confirmed to 11 News that Caren Kohberger was arrested by FBI agents Tuesday afternoon. Caren Kohberger was arrested Tuesday in New York. She is charged with child endangerment in connection to her son Alijah's death. A FBI spokeswoman said Kohberger was arrested after she was released from Bellevue Hospital’s mental ward Tuesday afternoon. She is being held in a New York City jail awaiting extradition back to Texas. Kohberger was wanted on charges that she handed her 3-month-old son over to the man who is accused of stomping the boy to death. Yenne filed endangerment charges against Kohberger last week. Travis Mullis is charged with capital murder in the beating death of his baby son. The probable cause affidavit for the arrest warrant alleges that Kohberger handed her son Alijah over to Travis Mullis, even though she knew the man was unstable. Mullis is accused of stomping the boy's head, then dumping the infant’s body in a grassy area off the Galveston Seawall on Jan. 29. A couple later found the boy’s body in the Cherry Hill area on Galveston’s far East End. As news reports of the grisly discovery surfaced, Kohberger contacted police believing the baby was hers. In her interview with police, Kohberger claimed that Mullis was up all night the evening before and was having “flashbacks to being sexually abused as a child.” A nationwide manhunt for Mullis ensued and he turned himself in to Philadelphia police on Feb. 1. He is being held in the Galveston County jail on capital murder charges. His bond is set at $1 million. Now The Lone Victim Can Be Buried In Peace.
