What are you waiting for?

Awesome Video By A Soldier!! http://www.flashdemo.net/gallery/wake/index.htm These are the words he is singing: If I die before you wake... Back home now I know you're probably sleepin' Over here it's the middle of the day I finally found the time to write a letter Sittin' here a half a world away I heard about all them folks protestin' As if I really want this war But that don't stop me from believin' There's just some things worth fightin' for CHORUS And if I die before you wake, I pray the world will take A good look at what God's given us That we could only understand, Everything is in his hands All we need is a little faith and trust I want you to know it ain't too high a price to pay If I die before you wake Tell everybody that I miss them And I can't wait to get back home But until then I'll serve my country And be proud to wear this uniform CHORUS No it ain't too high a price to pay If I die before you wake

A Different Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight. My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My daughter beside me, angelic in rest. Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white, Transforming the yard to a winter delight. The sparkling lights in the tree I believe, Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve. My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep, Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep. In perfect contentment, or so it would seem, So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream. The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near, But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear. Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow. My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear, And I crept to the door just to see who was near. Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night, A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight. A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old, Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold. Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled, Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child. "What are you doing?" I asked without fear, "Come in this moment, it's freezing out here! Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve, You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!" For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift, Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts. To the window that danced with a warm fire's light Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right, I'm out here by choice, I'm here every night." "It's my duty to stand at the front of the line, That separates you from the darkest of times. No one had to ask or beg or implore me, I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me. My Gramps died at 'Pearl' on a day in December," Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram' always remembers." "My dad stood his watch in the jungles of 'Nam', And now it is my turn and so, here I am. I've not seen my own son in more than a while, But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile." Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag, The red, white, and blue... an American flag. "I can live through the cold and the being alone, Away from my family, my house and my home". "I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet, I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat. I can carry the weight of killing another, Or lay down my life with my sister and brother." "Who stand at the front against any and all, To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall." "So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright, Your family is waiting and I'll be all right." "But isn't there something I can do, at the least, Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?" "It seems all too little for all that you've done, For being away from your wife and your son." Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret, "Just tell us you love us, and never forget. To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone, To stand your own watch, no matter how long." "For when we come home, either standing or dead, To know you remember we fought and we bled. Is payment enough, and with that we will trust, That we mattered to you as you mattered to us." PLEASE, would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S. service men and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities. Let us try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us. LCDR Jeff Giles, SC, USN 30th Naval Construction Regiment OIC, Logistics Cell One Al Taqqadum, Iraq
'Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone, in a one bedroom house made of plaster and stone. I had come down the chimney with presents to give, and to see just who in this home did live. I looked all about, a strange sight I did see, no tinsel, no presents, not even a tree. No stocking by the mantle, just boots filled with sand, on the wall hung pictures of far distant lands. With medals and badges, awards of all kinds, a sober thought came through my mind. For this house was different, it was dark and dreary. I found the home of a soldier, once I could see clearly. The soldier lay sleeping, silent, alone, curled up on the floor in this one bedroom home. The face was gentle, the room in such disorder, not how I pictured a United States soldier. Was this the hero of whom I'd just read? Curled up on a poncho, the floor for a bed? I realized the families that I saw this night, owed their lives to these soldiers who were willing to fight. Soon round the world, the children would play and grownups would celebrate a bright Christmas day. They all enjoyed freedom each month of the year, because of the soldiers, like the one lying here. I couldn't help wonder how many lay alone, on a cold Christmas Eve in a land far from home. The very thought brought a tear to my eye, I dropped to my knees and started to cry. The soldier awakened and I heard a rough voice, "Santa don't cry, this life is my choice; I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more, my life is my God, my Country, my Corps." The soldier rolled over and drifted to sleep, I couldn't control it, I continued to weep. I kept watch for hours, so silent and still and we both shivered from the cold night's chill. I didn't want to leave on that cold, dark, night, this guardian of honor so willing to fight. Then the soldier rolled over, with a voice soft and pure, whispered, "Carry on Santa, it's Christmas day, all is secure." One look at my watch, and I knew he was right. "Merry Christmas my friend, and to all a good night."

Home From The Air Force

A guy who was in the Air Force had just spent a year deployed to Iraq. The first night he got home, he exclaimed to his wife, "Honey, I want you to know that I haven't wasted all this time alone. Instead, I've mastered the art of mind over matter. Just watch this!" And with that he dropped his trousers and shorts and stood before her in his altogether. "Now watch," he said. Next he said, "Dick, ten-HUT!" And with that, his dick sprang to full erection. Then he said, "Dick, at EASE!" And his dick deflated again. "Wow, that was amazing," said his wife. "Do you mind if I bring our next-door neighbor over to see this? It's really something else!" The guy responded that he didn't mind at all, since he was proud of what he had accomplished. So the wife goes next door and comes back with a delicious looking woman who got this guy's full attention! After a brief pause to take her in, he said, "Now watch this." Then he said "Dick, ten-HUT!" And the dick sprang to life. Then it was "Dick, at EASE!" But nothing happened. So the guy again said, "Dick, at EASE!" But still nothing happened. So the guy now says,"For the last time, you son-of-a-bitch, I said AT EASE!!" Still nothing. Well, the guy was embarassed and ran off to the bathroom. His wife made excuses for him and then joined her husband in the bathroom, where she found him masturbating. "What in the world are you doing?" she asked. The guy says, "I'm givin' this son-of-a-bitch a dishonorable discharge!"

Freedom Isnt Free

I watched the flag pass by one day, It fluttered in the breeze. A young Marine saluted it, And then he stood at ease.. I looked at him in uniform So young, so tall, so proud, With hair cut square and eyes alert He'd stand out in any crowd. I thought how many men like him Had fallen through the years. How many died on foreign soil How many mothers' tears? How many pilots' planes shot down How many died at sea How many foxholes were soldiers' graves? No, freedom isn't free. I heard the sound of Taps one night, When everything was still, I listened to the bugler play And felt a sudden chill. I wondered just how many times That Taps had meant "Amen," When a flag had draped a coffin. Of a brother or a friend. I thought of all the children, Of the mothers and the wives, Of fathers, sons and husbands With interrupted lives. I thought about a graveyard At the bottom of the sea Of unmarked graves in Arlington. No, freedom isn't free. Enjoy Your Freedom & God Bless Our Troops

Do you know a Soldier??

Do you know a Soldier?? They sleep on cots made for just one Sometimes even with their boots on They awake long before the sun And work very hard to stay strong Strong for themselves Strong for their families Strong for the country they serve Strong for the flag that waves above They work and train In the heat, cold, and rain They sweat, they swear Sometimes wondering why they are there In the distance they hear gun fire And watch the hawks fly over They pray for their brothers Their loved ones and themselves And yet they go on Doing their job Determined to make proud The ones that have passed on They fight for justice They serve for freedom They cry for the fallen And celebrate the day These are our soldiers Proud and strong Serving flag and country Away and at home For the job they do We need to give our support So they know they are loved From the depths of our hearts ~~ I write this for every soldier - past, present, future - and offer you my up-most respect and gratitude for a job well done. Thank you. ~~ written by ttotaltiger I would like to encourage everyone who knows and loves a soldier, whether past, present, or future, to repost this bulletin in their honor and memory.

My OWN Orders (a poem)

THIS WAS A POEM I FOUND ON THE NET FROM AN ARMY WIFE TO HER HUSBAND...HER NAME WAS NOT ON IT SO I CAN NOT GIVE HER CREDIT FOR THIS BUT HERE GOES: I stand right next to you everyday in the store, but everywhere I go I have a sense of pride you can't even begin to understand. For everywhere I go, I carry with me the pride he stands for. I may not be on the frontline with him but yet I am his unseen 'battle' buddy I feel the same pains he feels, when he hurts..I hurt as well. When he smiles I feel a sense of peace. I have my OWN set of orders to follow not because I'm ordered to but because I choose to. I commit myself to that man who passes you wearing his uniform. That man who is willing to die for yours, The same man who just weeks ago was tenderly holding me. My orders are clearly that of supporting him Proudly representing what it is he stands for and to be here waiting on him the day he comes home. I am committed to the military not by signing papers but because I am committed to him.

I’m just tryin’ to be a father, raise a daughter and a son Be a lover to their mother, everythin’ to everyone Up and at ‘em bright and early, I’m all business in my suit Yeah I’m dressed up for success, from my head down to my boots I don’t do it for money, there’s bills I that I can’t pay I don’t do it for the glory, I just do it anyway Providing for our future’s, my responsibility Yeah I’m real good under pressure, being all that I can be And I can’t call in sick on Mondays when the weekend’s been too strong I just work straight through the holidays, and sometimes all night long You can bet that I stand ready, when the wolf growls at the door Hey I’m solid, hey I’m steady, hey I’m true down to the core. And I will always do my duty no matter what the price I’ve counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice Oh and I don’t want to die for you, but if dyin’s asked of me I’ll bear that cross with honor, cause freedom don’t come free. I’m an American Soldier an American Beside my brothers and my sisters, I will proudly take a stand When liberty’s in jeopardy, I will always do what’s right I’m out here on the front lines, sleep in peace tonight American Soldier, I’m and American, Soldier. An American Soldier an American Beside my brothers and my sisters, I will proudly take a stand When liberty’s in jeopardy, I will always do what’s right I’m out here on the front lines, sleep in peace tonight American Soldier, I’m and American, an American, an American, Soldier.
