What are you waiting for?

Read all the way through please! Hunger and undernutrition are the number one risk to health worldwide, killing more people every year than AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined. How real is the problem of hunger? Image and video hosting by TinyPic Consider that: - The world has produced more than enough food to feed itself since the 1960s. - Yet, around the world, over 850 million people are chronically hungry. - That means one out of every seven people on earth goes hungry. - There are 400 million hungry children in the world. - That’s more hungry children than the population of the United States. - Every four seconds, someone, somewhere, dies because of hunger. - Every day, 25,000 people die because of hunger; 18,000 of them are children. - Every year, over 9 million people die from hunger and malnutrition. More than 9 out of 10 hungry people die in situations not heard on the news. Despite the magnitude of this tragic situation, hunger is a solvable problem. Hunger can, in fact, be eradicated. Image and video hosting by TinyPic Now think about this how often do our kids waste food and we come back with a response of "there are people starving in the world and you're wasting that!" Do we ever stop and really think of those words we just use? When a child is being neglected here, there are agencies that step in. Hopefully before its too late. Imagine as a Mother or Father and having a family that you cant feed and having to sit back and hear their cries for food, watching their tiny bones push threw their skin. On a hot day and we have a huge thirst, we think nothing of going and getting a nice cold glass of water. Think of how nice it would be to fill your glass or bowl or pot with some tastey brown water filled with all kinds of nasty things including bodily wastes from animals and people. Why should those people not be able to have the safe drinking water? Image and video hosting by TinyPic How much money are we spending on our kids and other things. Alot of our money we spend goes on stupid things or things that don't mean a whole lot like perhaps that $100 some pay to sponsor a happy hour on here. Think of our childrens faces on Christmas morning for those who celebrate and how their faces light up at all their new toys. Other kids in these countries get toys made from garbage and other scraps they find. When your child is sick, you get them medical attention right away. These people only dream they had that and instead are forced to hold their sick child in their arms and watch them take their final breath. Alot of the times it is more than one child that is lost to a family. Image and video hosting by TinyPic This little girl's name is Merci and she lives in Chad with her family. She is 4 years old. My kids and I started sponsoring her back in December because I feel that even though I do donate to different charities that for all that my boys get, other kids should be entiled to atleast a small fraction of that. Image and video hosting by TinyPic Atleast now I know that this beauty will never go hungry and will get the education she needs. Hopefully she'll be able to provide better for her children. Open your heart and that little bit out of your wallet to save a childs life!
