Long dusty road reminds me of life
I see for miles and miss my wife
She cried the day I left
Knowing Iraq was just ahead
Terror struck me when I hit the ground
The amazing rush knowing I was serving for american ground
My children know daddy is gone
They think he is a hero with fatigues on
Them not knowing how I yearn for them every day
This desert gets lonely even for a soldier these days
I hope they grow up and know I lost friends on this ground
So they could grow up in a country and be proud
We try to fly our flag wherever we go
But the people here some friendly and some not so
This war we wage is hard on us all
But we know once its done America will stand tall
This battle of shootings, kidnapping and beheadings fear us all
But we know America will soon see victory with freedom of another democracy
We are not here on our own accord
But by those who find hate in their own heart
They came to our land and wanted a fight
So here we are with freedom at hand
Our new Iraqi brotherhood will live free once again
My wife knows i am willing to die
Knowing we will all be proud inside
This long dusty road has a tendency to kill
I feel a great bang
Here one roadside bomb has taken us out
I can see nothing but blood in my eyes
Have I died
Heaven is only a distance for you and I
I see my brothers fighting back tears
I pick up my gun
They are coming from the hills
Shots fly
Back and forth
I can see my future
It is not ending on this soil
My brothers and I see the Terrorists coming
We shoot and fight a fierce battle for the day
All we can see is they all just died the american way
You come on our land and attempt to blow us away
You forgot Iraq is now free and will soon battle you the Iraqi way
I tend to my brothers seeing my wifes smile
She is proud we have made the world alot safer place
If you cant stand face to face
You soon will die the american way
You find your freedom in hatred and death
We show our love by sacrificing for those we cherish
Freedom is not free
Nor is death
Love one another
If you come upon a soldier
Show him respect
He put his life to the ultimate test
When I get home and see my family
I will tell them they are worth democracy
