When I read the following news article I became really pissed off and the tiny bit of respect that I had for Theresa Earnhardt only because of Dale Sr. is now completely and forever gone.
CONCORD, N.C. (AP) -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. will not be taking his familiar No. 8 with him to Hendrick Motorsports next season.
Earnhardt is leaving Dale Earnhardt Inc. at the end of the season and had hoped to take No. 8 with him to his new team. His late grandfather, Ralph, used that number and Earnhardt picked it when he entered the Cup Series in 1999.
Although teams do not own numbers -- they are leased through NASCAR -- DEI had the first right of refusal on the No. 8, and Hendrick officials said Wednesday they were unable to reach an agreement that would have made DEI pass on choosing the number for 2008.
``We've been working hard to secure the No. 8 for Dale Jr.'s car number next season,'' said Marshall Carlson, general manager of Hendrick Motorsports.
‘`Obviously, he has a tremendous history with that number, and we know how important it is to his fans. Unfortunately, we couldn't reach a point where the terms made sense, and now we have to move forward with other options.''
``Our hope was to carry the No. 8 with Dale Jr. to his new team, but the last proposal Hendrick Motorsports received from DEI just wasn't viable,'' said Kelley Earnhardt Elledge, his sister and business manager.
`It was a difficult decision, but all of us agreed that it was best to move in another direction,'' she said. ``There's disappointment, of course, but we look forward to working with Hendrick Motorsports on what will be a great program for Dale Jr. and his fans in 2008.''
Now I know that Dale Jr. & Theresa didn’t get along but what does she or DEI have to gain by keeping the number 8 ? Is she that much of a vengeful, spiteful , selfish bitch that she wasn’t happy with destroying a family business but she also had to take away something that has been with his grandfather and Dale Jr. for a very long time.
You cannot say that it’s just a number because for one it is history, a tie as well as a tribute to his grandfather which will now be gone forever. Second of all it is a symbol to all Jr. fans to show their support and their pride. All the people who have tattoo’s, paint jobs, banners, flags, and any other means of displaying the number 8 as their favorite driver is now all useless and has no more meaning. Why did Theresa destroy all this. Both Hendrix motor sports and Dale Jr. have a lot of money and other fringe benefits and if these two could not strike a deal with her then that just goes to prove what type of a person she is because she has nothing at all to gain from that number unless Jr. is driving it.
I said in part one of this blog that at the end of this season DEI would be just another company to me because of not having an Earnhardt on board . I now have to change that. As of this moment I think of DEI as a bitter and unloyal business & the only tiny bit of interest I have in DEI is Martin Truex Jr, whom I think is good driver and a cool person. It really burns me that Theresa will be benefiting from some thing from Dale Jr. who recruited and signed him. I truly hope that when his contract with DEI is over he signs with another team. If I was a driver I would be very reluctant to sign with DEI for the reason of if they can’t be loyal and supportive of a family member what would they do to me.
I have come to terms with the loss of Dale Sr and when I think of him I have good thoughts of him and his life, and now thanks to Theresa not only has she destroyed a family business but she has also destroyed the memory of Dale Sr because now when ever I think of him I think of this sickening , spitefull and the unnecessary out come of all this. Theresa has not only ripped off the Earnhardt family but she has also ripped off all the Earnhardt and NASCAR fans.
Theresa you have shown what kind of a person you are and I hope life starts giving you the karma that deserve very soon. If it wasn’t for the Earnhardts and the NASCAR fans and family you wouldn’t be where you are today, I hope that comforts you when you find yourself being a lonely old bitch.
