OK...
Those of you that are on my friends and/or are my family members know that I have served in the Army and since I got out have regretted the decision made to get out.
Recently a friend of mine that I hadnt seen since being in the military together and I have re-united. His wife hired a Private Investigator to locate me and found me through family of mine down in Florida.
My friend is now living in Maryland, as I am now also...we hung out this weekend together and remembered the past in the military and names were brought up and we took moments to remember those of our comrades that have been lost.
He currently is a member of the Maryland Defense Force, which is run by the governor of Maryland. It is pretty much a volunteer force that follows Army Regulations. They do drills, and have musters and are eligible to be called to do duties that the guard does, when the guard is activated.
I discussed this with him and he told me that because I have such a strong military upbringing and that I often wish I had never gotten out of the military maybe I should join up with them.
There are 23 states with recognized Defense Forces, Maryland is one of them...
Now I am considering doing this, and joining up with them, but I need to know from anyone who might happen to know about this force what their thoughts of the force is, and is it worth it to persue. Maybe you know from the defense force in your own state, or know members of it that might tell you information about it.
Now my question is Should I...
A. Join up with it or B. Accept the fact that I'm no longer in the military and move on with my life |
