Feeling a little guilty

I'm feeling a little bad today, but I don't know who to blame. Last night, I saw some major fashion disasters and I couldn't help it, I laughed. One was an elderly woman wearing a micro-mini skirt, the other was a very heavy woman wearing a mini-skirt and a belly shirt. I just don't know who to blame for these fashion faux pas. Is it the person who bought the item, for thinking the could pull it off? Is it the salesperson, for not being brave enough to tell the customer that the item really didn't look good? Or, is it the friends and/or family of the person for letting them leave the house, knowing they were going to look ridiculous? Please, give me some feedback here so I know where to lay the blame.

Now this sucks!!!

I just started a new job last night as a cage cashier on a riverboat casino. I get to witness stupidity at it's worst every night at work. And believe me, there are some amazing displays there, as money and alcohol and slot machines or gaming tables are seldom a good mix. But, thanks to company policy and the state gaming commission... I'm not allowed to discuss ANY of it... and it's killing me. I can understand not being allowed to discuss it with neighbors, family, anyone else in my immediate area, due to confidentiality of the customers, but to be prohibited to mention it anonymously online seems a bit restrictive to me. After all, the chances of someone out there in fu-land actually knowing who I'm even talking about, without mentioning names and/or descriptions, is slim to non-existent. It would require either one hell of a guess or having actually been present at the right place and the right time to witness the specific example mentioned. And on a further note, I just read through my "Diversity in the Workplace" handbook that was given to me during training. Most of it was basic common sense, at least to anyone who has ever worked in the service industry before, since it covers the basics about not making racial slurs, height/weight jokes, etc. However, I noted two major inconsistencies with the policy. First, the handbook reads as follows: Examples of ethnic names not to be used when describing people: Hispanic, Asian, Black, Indian, etc. Examples of proper ethnic names to be used: Hispanic, Asian, Native American, African-American, etc. Could someone please tell me how it is both correct and incorrect to use Hispanic and Asian? Then, when I started work last night, I was shown various transaction log forms, and lo and behold, there, on the bottom of the forms, was the codes to be used for race... and what did it say? W - White, non-Hispanic B- Black H - Hispanic I - Native American? Can we say double standard?

Just need to vent

I finally got done filling out my Indiana Gaming license application. This really doesn't fall under the heading of stupidity, but some of the info was completely asinine. It states clearly in the instructions that any information not declared will be considered as your attempt to obstruct their process. Well, they ask for so much information, I know it's quite possible I forgot something, somewhere. I don't remember all the addresses of all the places I've lived SINCE THE DAY I WAS BORN!!!! There's been numerous times when I've just crashed with friends for a few weeks because I wanted to get away from home, and I'm afraid that if I don't disclose those addresses too, they're going to nail my ass to the wall. Plus, with their access to all my records (hell, they probably know who my birth mother is, and I've been searching for that info for years), why do they need me to provide it for them? Can't they just look it up? Now, I have to hunt for the notaries that supposedly notarize such documents for free, because my employer assures me that are some that will stamp those kinds of documents for free as they are for state applications. Okay, I feel better now.
