My Book

Fenrir Chapter One As he slowly opened his eyes he felt dried blood crack. He groggily looked around and saw that he was on his roof. He sat up to clear his mind and try to think clearly. His first thought was that evidently his father had gotten drunk on Phoenix Claw and had beaten him, which explained the dried blood and the fact that he was on the roof of his house. The second thought, which was the most obvious, ow. He sighed and hopped down and landed with a dull thud. It was a 3-story drop, but it was an easy task, for he had done it many times before. He staggered and stumbled over to the hot springs behind his house. He carefully lowered himself into the springs and winced often whenever the hot liquid hit a bruise. He leaned back and let his body soak. He was Fenrir. Fenrir was in way an ordinary human. In fact, he was only half-human. He was a half-werewolf living in the hidden village of Howlris in the Northwestern corner of Guadring. He had thick, wavy blue hair that reached his jaw line. His hair hid 6 identical scars, 3 on each side. They started on the top his cheekbone and curved like scimitars until they reached his mouth. The only place he did not have fur was figures, palms, neck, feet, pectorals, abs, and his face. Fenrir had no human ears but thin blue furry wolf ears 3 inches above where his eyebrows and temples met, and all his fur happened to be blue. The most important thing at this given time was that he happened to be enjoying his soak until…………"Fenrir!!!!!!!" He wearily looked up and saw to his dismay that Sabrina was walking in to him. Sabrina was the only female half-elf in Howlris and the only half-elf whose company he enjoyed. He quickly glanced over her features and found them almost exactly as he remembered. Her jet-black hair fell to the bottom of her shoulder blades. She had an almond shaped face and a slender figure. The thing that held his gaze was her golden brown skin color. Passed over her high cheekbones and pointed ears, for they were common amongst elves. He couldn't help noticing that had grown bigger, in height and…other places. "You ok, Fenrir?" she asked. "What?" Fenrir said. Sabrina giggled and tilted her head. "You coming tonight or what?" "What's tonight?" he asked. "You lazy degenerate! My Earth Temple entrance exam." His head started to clear. "Does it have to be tonight?" Sabrina laughed, and Fenrir found he missed the sound sorely. "Slacker. This is the last night to get in and if I don't then I can't try again for another 6 years." Her face brighten don't you come with me and make it. Then we can both leave Howlris for good and go to the Earth Temple in Dragfor!" Fenrir's jaw dropped. "Me? Leave Howlris? I don't know…." He thought about it. He had never gone beyond the borders of Howlris before, with the exception of Black Soul Forest. Sabrina spoke up, "Its not like you have anything better to do, unless you count getting beaten." Fenrir's muscles tensed up involuntarily. Sabrina obviously knew she had struck a nerve because she changed topics. "Well it's at dusk in case you decide to show up later." With that she turned to leave, looking visibly disappointed. Searching desperately for any way to delay her impending abs he asked, "How's your egg coming along? Managed to hatch it yet?" She pulled out her egg out of her satchel. It was pink and harder any steel Fenrir knew of, which explained how it still had flawlessly smooth sides despite all the times he had seen her throw it. "No luck so far, you?" Fenrir lifted his egg up from under the water and held it up and watch tendrils of steam snake off its smooth surface for a while. It was the most unique object he had, and he never went anywhere without it. It was dark blue, the exact same shade as his fur. "Nope. I wish it would hurry up and hatch so id have something to do. "Well I guess I'll be seeing you" Sabrina started off, and he realized he didn't want to see her go, but he had no credible reason to keep her around. He sighed and stood up. He looked down and saw his bruises were gone, but it didn't surprise him; it had happened many times before. He put his egg in his leather pouch that was tied with a thin leather strip. He started off. Fenrir walked along at a very casual pace in very casual cloths, a tattered pair of worn leather pants and no shirt or shoes, what he normally chose to wear. Walking along he pondered about leaving Howlris for good. Sabrina made great points. He did have no reason to stay except his house. He did hate his father beating him, so what's to lose? He wasn't watching where he was walking, which explained how he knocked into a monk carrying and armful of scrolls. "Watch were your going, pup!" he spat at Fenrir. "Pup?" Fenrir's temper flared. "That's right you mutt, Watch were your going or ill make sure you'll never Watch anything again!!!" Fenrir challenged him, "and you'll be the one to teach me that lesson?" The monk threw off his cloak and Fenrir got a look at him. He had short green hair and freckles here and there, but with no matching pattern. His eyes where gold and he had dark brown fur making him were bear. "Your breed is rare, and well know for there aggressiveness." Fenrir said. "Shall we?" the monk said. He wore green armor with assorted blades everywhere they could be placed. "This isn't fa…" Fenrir started. The inturepted"Just shut up and summon your element and get ready." "Element?" The monk laughed, "This will be easy." The monk touched the top of his left hand and suddenly his left hand started glowing. "Chi honshitsu!" the monk shouted. He was suddenly bathed in a green aura. He took two dagger handles and held them up. That's all they appeared to be…handles. He then said, "Chi hishu." Automatically two green blades popped out from the handles. He flicked his wrists and they came at Fenrir. He watched in awe until they sliced either side of his abs, and that snapped him out of it. "This is too easy, I thought you'd present a minor challenge even". He pulled out a handle off his back and said, "Chi katana", and a slender green sword emerged. The monk charged Fenrir in a dart, and Fenrir waited till the tip of the sword was a foot away then he took a step back with his right leg. Fenrir then knocked the blade away with his left his left hand and palm-punched him in the chest with such force the monk stumbled back a couple of feet. Fenrir ran toward the monk and jumped right before planting his foot on the monk's chest, carrying the monk up with him. Fenrir waited till he was up about 8 feet then quickly back flipped and used that motion to propel the monk to the ground, landing with a snap. Fenrir landed with a dull thud and offered his hand to the monk. The monk took it and looked at Fenrir with amazement. "Who are you?" he asked. "Fenrir", he replied. "Fenrir…I've never fought and lost before, you have amazing talent. Why don't you come with me?" "Who are you?" The monk laughed. "I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Koru, the Earth Temple's emissary. I'm here to induct 7 individuals into our Temple, and I would be honored to induct you with them." Fenrir was in shock. "You're the Earth Temple's emissary? Wow. Either way I don't know." The monk replied, "Come to the town tonight if you decide to come." With that the monk picked up his scrolls and headed into town.
