It really bothers me when I see my friends put themselves down, especially when the things they say are blatantly untrue. my current method of dealing with this situation is to tell the person to shut up, or stop talking shit.
It occurs to me though, that this may not be the most productive way of dealing with the situation. Now, if i feel a person is attention seeking this would still seem to be the appropriate response, but when a person really believes what they're saying is true it isn't appropriate really, is it?
So, how do you deal with people with low self esteem. I'm not going to spend hours reassuring people, since they probably wont believe me anyway, so what should I do? |
