I'd like to start by saying that if you haven't seen this episode and don't want to know what happens STOP READING!! This is a recap of the show and my thoughts on it.
Christina goes to Hawaii with Meredith on her honeymoon, they all come back after 3 weeks as residents in charge of new interns, all vying to be the next "nazi". Alex does a pretty good job of keeping his interns in line, Meredith is well....Meredith, although she does hit the jackpot with a woman who comes in from a car accident 9 months pregnant with a severed arm that can be reattached. Christina is well on the road to becoming the Nazi and lands a case consisting of a man who was brought in to be proclaimed dead, when suddenly he starts breathing. Come to find out he's internally decapitated and Derek manages to save his life. Izzy is going crazy over George not really talking to her and spends her day trying to save the life of a deer that got hit in the road, though her interns have heard about what happened with Denny she still manages to prove that she's in charge in the end.
Callie is freaking out because nobody likes her and she feels that she has no respect as chief resident, especially from Dr. Bailey. Dr. Bailey is avoiding the chief until the point that he finally corners her in surgery and tells her that she belongs in surgery and not pushing papers, he makes a point to let her know that she will thank him later and sure enough she sees Callie sitting outside after work and she's upset and stressed out thinking that she sucks at everything. "Hope it's better tomorrow" is all Bailey says with a smug smile as she walks away.
George has decided to repeat his intern year and manages to make friends with Merediths half-sister Lexie, telling her she's "pretty awesome" while Meredith silently looks on, not ready to accept her sister as of yet. Lexie proceeds to tell all the other interns about how George delivered a baby on his first day as an intern making him the coolest guy ever as they surround him to ask questions about how "totally awesome" it was. Derek makes a plea to his fellow doctors for a friend to drink with and talk to after work but nobody seems to be available except for Mark whom Derek isn't ready to make nice with yet. Sloan finally tells Derek that he didn't come to Seattle to be the chief or even for Addison, he came to be friends with Derek again, though it comes out wrong the explanation is met with a smile but the offer from Mark to have a drink is shut down.
Finally as the show ends Alex comes to Christina with a bag full of money that was retrieved from his patients stomach (The patiens tends to eat any and everything) and admits to her that he misses Rebecca, previously known as Ava, Christina finally lets go and admits that she misses Burke. Meredith is cornered between Derek and Lexie both wanting to speak to her, she chooses Derek and they end up in an on call room and decide to break up...I hear break up sex can be the best kind so we'll see where that goes. And just when you think there couldn't be any more suprises you hear a knock at the door and see Izzie walking toward it, eating peanut butter from the jar to find George standing there, she opens it in suprise, the suspense builds and George says the words "I love you too" leaving Izzie standing speechless as it fades to black.
It's going to be a fantastic season.
