What are you waiting for?

It;s funny when we remeber days gone by in that it sometimes brings joy then other times it brings a tear to our eyes,,

I remember back some 50+ yrs ago and the excitement tha the fourth of july brought to me as a young lad...The brightness of the sparklers and loudness of the fire crackers...The Independece Day parades.. the soldiers in uniform all saluting our flag as the marched by.... the families gathering fopr picnics...the neighborhoods have get togethers...

Then I remember the Bobm drills in school...the pledge of alligence to oue flag as classes began...the prayers silent and verbal each morning...

Then I remembered A funeral for my cousin killed in action in the Korean conflict.. I weeped for him this morning...he was my hero growing up in the 50's... I remember the country called Vietnam and we were advisors of the conflict.... Then I remember the draft of our men into that conflict...I remember my wanting to be a draft dodger because of my memories of my cousin... I remember my father saying he would back whatever decision I made... I remember enlisting with my 3 best friends that December of 1966... I remember the pride we all had and tthe basic traing we suffered thru.... Then I remembered crying again as I lost my best friends to a war everyone was protesting against...I remember hating this country for allowing those protests.... I remember the day I landed back on American soil to be told that I was a murderer... I remember living in hell with myself not sure what I believed in anymore...

Then it came to me why we who give ourselves to the people of America...to fight in foreign countries...

It is for those freedoms to say and speak out for or against this country called America... and it makes me cry again... It's these freedom that some take as a given that we who did our duty fought for... yet I have a hard time with those who disrespect this country and flag of those who died fighting for those freedoms...

I am a true blooded American and I salute those who went before me and those who are there now defending our flag and country with their lives so we can do what we Americans do... good and bad..

This blog is for all of those who have fought to keep this country free... I salute you as you are my Heros in this time of make believe heros..You do just honor to those who have gone before you and those that will carry on after you...

God Bless America and our troops wherevevr they may land.

My Saturdays ar Rufffff

Well my Saturdays start ai midnight like everone elses but I start my cooking for Muddy Pond BBQ at that time..no partying on Friday anynoe...What a bummer..Anyway I have to prepair he meat get the smoker fired up and load it when it gets to temp (220 degrees) the split more hickory...have u ever tried that early in the mornind and in the dark'''it's a work out.

Then I have to get the mobil kitchen restocked and set up on a site that a good friend here in Muddy Pond has allowed me free access to. Then it's about every half hour to load more hickory into the smoker to maintain the proper temp to make my Butts yje old fashioned way of slow and low cooking so they will melt in ur mouth tender.. Funny our motto is "Que so tender you don't need teeth" which was thought up by a great customer.

Now I pull the kitchen 1 1/2 miles and level it on site at around 7:oo and retuen to keep the smoker tended which will some times allow me to be on line or just ply eith my rwo cats Goldie and Tink. Seems they want me to pay more attention to them than here on Fubar lol. At 8:30 I pull the smoker up and level it, set out the tables and chairs along with the condements (home made sauces and napkins along w/ the trash cans) so I will be ready for the onslaught of hungered visitors to Muddy Pond.

This goes on till bout 5:00 and the the tear down and retun everthin home. Then the clean up and any meat goes ito the cooler. wash rinse and sanitize all utensils (pots pans bear claws and spatulas) then onto the smoker which gets sprayed with soap, pull the grills out and spay them down. They will all be power washes Sunday. Also schlept out the kitchen drain the holding tanks ect ect.

Now u have an idea of why sometimes my typo error occur when I get on line here Saturday evening..

Hope this was an enlightning walk thru my Saturdays as it has been for me..

Thanks and hope u enjoyed it

Draddogs

ps. If u ever make to Muddy Pond on a Tue, Thur or Sat just tell me whom UR and that U R a Fu Bird and the sandwich will be on me.... mmmmm tasty eats.
