Sarah Palin Why she irritates the hell out of me By: Nicole Purville I’ve mentioned to several people that it concerns me that John McCain has no degree and that Sarah Palin has a Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho. http://gov.state.ak.us/bio.html http://mccain.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=AboutSenatorMcCain.Biography One of the things that surprised me is that to some people, this is ok. It is ok that these two individuals run for public office without any formal training in politics or law. These people also said that our forefathers wanted ordinary “laymen” to be able to lead and contribute to our country. That is an excellent point that I had never thought of. Why should the stuffed shirts run the country? We should all have a say. After all : We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. Ok, ok, I get it, but here’s my problem: Sarah Palin has a blatant disrespect of guidelines that were set to protect and govern this nation. She is the proverbial dog with a bone—with or without lipstick. It disturbs me that she wants to dig in an area of Alaska that has been protected since 1960—and— that her desire to dig in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWAR) is so strong that she cannot fathom the fact that man has at least contributed to Global Warming. I am no one’s green thumb, believe me. I can, however, make a connection to man’s effect on the environment. It’s becoming easier to see that the more we build the more we push animals out of their natural habitats. In this area alone there are more deer sighted along the Sprain Parkway and they are migrating further and further south. It, therefore, is not such a far stretch for me to see that drilling in ANWAR could adversely effect the polar bear population or the warming of their environment. I don’t see the domestic tranquility or justice for the polar bears drowning in Alaska Governor Palin. I don’t see how drilling in land that was deemed a Wildlife Refuge, 48 years ago, promotes the general welfare or secures the “Blessings of Liberty” for us or our posterity. I also don’t understand how Governor Palin doesn’t see the effects of global warming on an area that was a Wildlife Refuge 4 years before she was born. Al Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America ... he's {Barack Obama} worried that someone won't read them their rights? Sarah Palin at the RNC Conference 2008 This statement is the heart of my concern that Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin have no formal training in politics or law. This statement is wrong on so many levels. I was appalled when I heard her say it and I was more appalled when I heard the crowd she was speaking to applaud it. The reason is—the laws of this country are inter-related. If we are going to arrest terrorist and bring them to trial there is a process. This is very important in our, American, legal system. The 5th amendment states: No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation. This is a law of the county you want to be second in command over Gov. Palin. Recognize that it does not say that “No American Citizen” shall be held… It clearly states that “No person” shall be held… Further more the Miranda Laws, state that: The person in custody must, prior to interrogation, be clearly informed that he has the right to remain silent, and that anything he says will be used against him in court; he must be clearly informed that he has the right to consult with a lawyer and to have the lawyer with him during interrogation, and that, if he is indigent, a lawyer will be appointed to represent him. What this means, Gov. Palin, is that if those terrorist who inflicted “catastrophic harm on America”, had not been read their rights—the laws that would allow the United States to condemn the terrorists bastards to hell could essentially set them free to terrorize again. Remember that Zacarias Moussaoui, a 9/11 terrorist, stood trial—and was convicted in 2006. The possibility of Moussaoui walking away on a technicality of the Miranda Laws would be devastating to the families of all who died that day. And any terrorist fought in any conflict who walks on a technicality would be like spitting on the graves of all our fallen service men and women. This is what petrifies me about her “shoot’em up, bang bang”, mentality. It has no roots or foundation in the constitution of our nation. This country’s foundation, The Constitution of the United States of America, must be upheld. That’s what makes our nation different from the Iraq held under Saddam Hussein. It’s what makes us free, and it’s what makes us great! God Bless America!!!
