INGREDIENTS: * 2 cups curaçao or triple sec * 2 750-ml bottles gold or light rum * 2 cups lime juice * 2 cups orange juice * 2 cups high-proof rum * 2 oz Pernod * 1/2 cup grenadine * 1 750-ml bottle dark rum * 1 cup lemon juice * 1 cup papaya or pineapple juice * 1 cup passion fruit juice * pineapple slices for garnish * large cake of ice PREPARATION: 1. What A Day!
Okay, my cousin's accident wasn't even all that happened...the sad saga gets worse. A very close friend of mine's mother was taken by ambulance Friday (they live in the mountains of PA and are 1 1/2 hours from nearest hospital) after having a stroke and seizure at their home. She has had a spot on her brain for the last 10 years and was told by her doctors then that if she ever started having severe headaches to let them know for it might be a sign that she would end up needing surgery. Just recently, she started having headaches that were severe but didn't quite make it to a doctor. Once they finally got her to the nearest hospital, she had another stroke and seizure. They wanted to stabilize her before they moved her to Univ. of PA but even if they got her stabilized, there was a winter storm happening and it's actually still snowing there so there was no way to move her and apparently, the hospital she is in is not equipped to perform the needed surgery. CREAMY HAM & CAULIFLOWER CASSEROLE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 med. head cauliflower 2 c. cooked, cubed ham 1 can mushrooms, drained 1/3 c. flour 4 tbsp. butter 1 c. milk 1 c. cubed sharp Cheddar cheese 1/2 c. sour cream 1 c. bread crumbs 1 tbsp. butter Break cauliflower into buds. Cook covered until tender. Drain. Combine ham and mushrooms. In medium saucepan melt 4 tablespoons butter. Stir in flour. Add milk all at once. Cook and stir until mixture thickens and bubbles. Add cheese and sour cream. Stir until cheese melts. Combine with cauliflower and ham mixture. Mix well. Combine bread crumbs

If you don't laugh out loud at this one, call the morgue and reserve a tray, because you are dead! From the Northwest Florida Daily News comes this story of a Crestview couple who drove their car to Walmart, only to have their car break down in the parking lot. The man told his wife to carry on with the shopping while he fixed the car in the lot. The wife returned later to see a small group of people near the car. Up's And Down's
Life is filled with ups and downs.. Lately mine been down.. I not sure if its the Christmas season or what. My weight is effecting me alot lately. I had hopes to be down 50 pounds by now. But things happen and losing the weight did not happen. Gyms need to have a play room so I can bring my kids and still work out. Or Pol (hubbies work) needs to get off 12's.. I watch what I eat but i will sneak some sweets now and then. It is much harder for me to workout at home because there are too many distractions and my foot is acting up. Where is my luck lately. Things need to change and soon because I cant deal with the added weight. Its hard not to let it get to me but it does.

R.i.p. Chris Herring
On December 12, 2007, my old high school friend was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident. He died in route to the hospital...the saddest part was tht I drove right by the accident tht night on my way to see my man at work. There will be a memorial service for him Sunday @ 1pm at Indian Rocks Baptist Church in Largo, Florida. Please keep his friends and family in your prayers....thank you. R.I.P. Chris....You left us way too soon!

As a young boy, Richard knew he wanted out of this town, but nobody, not even him, had any idea the path that would take him from here, and eventually lead him back. I got off work at 8pm I got home at 9pm, I live 8 minutes away. why did it take so long, a snow drift and mean people. After I dropped off the nightly money from work I headed home, there was a drift didn't look to bad plus there were already tracks from another car, so I backed up so I had a run at it and went, made it half thru. and nothing. Got stuck, I rocked back and forth for 15 minutes didn't make any progress. so I got out in calf deep snow and rising to wave people down, 11 cars slowed down and drove by. one person stopped, A 16 year old. he went and got a better car and pulled me out. took 5 minutes. My pants are frozen, so are my ankles. People piss me off sometimes. But I now know I am not going to try that again. first time I got stuck in a long time. lol... In another blog posting on Fri or Sat (under the Inquiring Minds series), I mentioned that I was awakened by what sounded like a small cessna engine that landed on my ceiling. I live on the corner of a one way street and, leaving my driveway, I often cut straight to the main road instead of driving all the way around the block. This morning was no exception. What made it slightly different was that a cop saw me do it. At first I thought I was going to get away with it but then, a couple streets later, there flashed the blue and red. He asked me, "did you just come from so-and-so street?" and I sheepishly replied "yeah, but I live right on the corner". Apparently that didn't make it any less illegal. Breckenridge This Weekend
A friend of mine had rented a condo for the week and invited me up for a couple of days and have to take advantage. The condo complex is known as Lift Line Condos, about one street south of the Marriott in Breckenridge. It is about a 75 yard walk from their to the lift. Not too bad. Our original plan was to ski Beaver Creek on Friday but an accident on I70 closed the road over vail pass. So we stayed at Breckenridge instead. We enjoyed 4" of new snow with powder everywhere. All 135 trails are open, with some of the best coverage I have seen. Skied all extremes of Breck, and with low winds, the weather was optimum as well. Some snow as we went back out today. But it was worth it. Another nice feature is that its a short walk into town where we had dinner last night at Bubba Gumps Shrimp Co. (A great choice during the lenten season). The food was good and the service excellent. Good Magaritas too. All in all, good couple of days in the mountains with friends and awesome s

Spring
So driving to work this morning I couldn't help but notice the beautiful signs of spring. The Last Few Weeks
The last to weeks, needless to say, have been the worst of my life. For those of you who have not heard, my dad died on March 22nd of complications from diabetes. I found out mid-flight from Phoenix to Philadelphia. There is almost a feeling of guilt. I keep saying to myself "I should have been there", but there was nothing I could do. On the list of worst days of my life, on a scale of one to 10, this was easily a 20. It’s a sad fact to think of now that Dad passing is what brought the family back together, Aunts and Uncles which i haven’t seen in 10 to 15 years I was able to see again, and my sister, who I have not seen since 1999, I was able to see again. This was the first time that my brother, me, and my sister have been in the same house at the same time since 1995. Dad was buried under a 75 year old oak tree and Whitemarsh Memorial Park on March 29th, 2008. He had fought for years against the ravages of diabetes and the effects of a quadruple bypass heart surgery

Well, I know I haven't blogged for a while, much less spent much time on fubar as it is. A whole lot of shit went down with my ex. It turns out that she was cought injecting forign substances into her 2 year old daughter four years ago at Riley hospital here in Indy. She was on probation at the time of our son's birth. She also was not to have any contact with nyone under the age of 18. She is now is jail due to violating her probation. The judge just sentenced her today to serve 2 years back-up time. Since it because of pobation violation, she will have to serve the full two years. I have had to go through the process of gaining custody of my son, as we were not married. It was easier than I thought it would be, and was succesful. I do not know if retains parental rights still as of yet. If she does, I will have to make sure that in 2 years if she wants to see our son it will be under court supervised visits. For now, I am taking it day to day as a single father. My family

Taking On 7 Years...

I was having trouble with my car today. the thingy (technical term if you didn't know) that triggers the break lights when you hit the brakes was stuck in the on position. This drained my battery. I was 2 hours late to work and I had no idea when I was going to get it fixed. I ran into one of the the maintenance guys and asked them if he could just disconnect the battery so it would die again. I gave him my key and went to help the poor girl left at the desk alone all morning. 5 hours later, one of the guys ( didn't even know his name, it's Jaun) came in gave me keys and said Your car is fixed. He wouldn't take money and barely even let me say thank you before he ran out of the lobby. All I can say is... Awesome!

March 9, 2008 - Sunday BullShit This totally sucks as I spent the entire evening writing a blog only to have an accidental Back Button push erase it entirely. What are we going to do in this country where minimum wage doesn't even pay enough money for an electric bill, let alone rent, insurance, telephone, groceries, etc. The buck, (so to speak}, must stop somewhere, and I'd say the working class Joe is the only real choice we have to bring things back to reality. A Heat Wave! (& I'm Pulling The Plug)
Yippie!!! A heat wave - made it to the 30's today! OMG still a lot of snow on the ground and lets not forget my roof. The deicing cable doesn't appear to working that well still inches of ice. But then my youngest one day while it was in the 30's and no snow yet or ice on his roof went out to unplug it. (LOL, I can't remember telling him too as there was snow forecasted for the following day anyhow. But they say to unplug it if it's above freezing and there is no snow or ice on it so it doesn't wear out too fast. CONSISTENCY OF AWARENESS It has been a very interesting year. We have been settling into our new city and into our new home. But I have been feeling the need to get back to the blog. So I will start off with something I heard this past Sunday. Majida and I go into New York City about once a month. We go for a couple of reasons. One of the reasons is to take a Tai Chi class on Sunday mornings. The class is given by this little 85 year old lady who was a student of Chen Man Cheng in the early 70's. We cannot get to our old teacher, Ed Young, because he only teaches on Monday night and that is impossible. So we go to his old friend, Maggie Newman. Her style is a bit different from his but just as effective. We do enjoy her classes. She was the one that I heard the title of this blog from. She speaks very softly so her class of about 20 people was gathered close around her. She was talking about a specific aspect of the Tai Chi form when something reminded her of a story

I have come to collect Being here on vacation to another land, I wanted to learn about the history of this place. So I went to the library in the evening when all else had closed. Well today was a bit better. Last night I went and looked at a 1994 Ranger. Its a beautiful truck. What Now...
Hello friends, have a few new things going on and thought id share them. As most of you know ive had a few major surgeries over this last year on my right ankle blah blah blah. Im tired of dealing with it about as much as im sure you're tired of hearing about me dealing with it lol. Anyway since i am back to walking mode i decided it was time to get back to work, i do have 2 lil girls to take care of. I received the phone call Tuesday for an interview and was hired on the spot as well as started that same night. Wendsday night i noticed i was having a lot of pain in my ankle but figured it was due from not using it and was normal and as the night goes on the bottom of my foot felt like it was on fire and so about 45 mins before im due to get off i take my shoe off to discover my sock is soaked in blood and as i pull it off..gah! the incision on the bottom of my foot has ripped open. Well they immediately tell me to leave and go to the emergency room although me being the kind of work

Just A Quick Typing...
A quick note about a few things:One, I finally decided to attack my family tree and find out more about my roots. I spent most of today just doing the maternal line of my family. Ancestry.com is AWESOME! I usually only can take a little bit of staring at a monitor at a time, but I think I spend at least six hours on the computer today, working on my lineage. I started with just a few papers that I received from my aunt, approximately 25-30 people.. and now I am at 181 of my ancestors figured out. Yeah!Two, I wish that if people hinted or suggested that they were going to do something that they would follow through. It's rather annoying to be expecting some sort of event to occur, when it was mentioned in promising words.. and then nothing. Not even a few words to say that it wasn't going to happen. GRRR....
