I'm not a list maker. I'm not overly organized. I'm not what some people would call "anal retentive." And im definitely not the kind of person that makes air quotes when she says "anal retentive." That said, I've made two lists in my life that give a little insight into who I am. Not much, but a little. One list is the "People I Hate" list. It was just after midnight as I was driving through the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in southeastern Kentucky when I tuned in the radio to an outstanding live track of the Allman Brothers " Midnight Rider". Okay so this is what's going on. I'm starting Medical Office Specialist (sounds snazzy don't it?) classes on the 12th. It's my grown up job so I can still pursue my childish ambitions. It's at a vocational school not a cool college but I'm too old for frat parties anyways. The admissions rep is cool, she asked me or rather told me to bring my art pieces with me to orinetation for her and the other office staff to buy. If I start making jewelry I'll really clean up! Plus they have work study I'll be eligible for a month into classes, working at the college rather than trying to balance two vastly separate schedules. On the down side, I was feeling really really tired and light headed, checked my blood pressure and it was high. Got more medicine and still felt fatigued but my blood pressure is good now so I had to have bloodwork done today. Yay, just love little pricks. Litha is the celebration Summer Solstice. The Solstice is the time when the sun is at the height of its power. It is the longest day of the year, midsummer. This is the time when the gardens are producing fruits and vegetables of summer. Wildlife is flourishing and the trees are covered in green leaves. 1 pt. pistachio or vanilla ice cream 1 pkg. (6) individual sponge dessert shells 4 egg whites 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 2/3 c. sugar 1 (1 lb.) can chocolate sauce, heated Divide ice cream into 6 equal parts. Shape into mounds to fit centers of dessert shells. Be sure cake extends about 1/2 inch all around ice cream. Wrap each servings in aluminum foil or transparent plastic wrap. Freeze. (May be kept frozen up to two weeks). Several hours before dinner prepare meringue. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy. Add sugar gradually. Continue beating until meringue forms stiff glassy peaks. Cover ice cream and cake quickly with a thick layer of meringue.

Little Girl Next Door
Here's a truly heartwarming story about the bond formed between a little 5-year-old girl and some construction workers that will make you believe that we all can make a difference when we give a child the gift of our time. A young family moved into a house, next to a vacant lot. One day, a construction crew turned up to start building a house on the empty lot. The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and spent much of each day observing the workers. Eventually the construction crew, all of them "gems-in-the-rough," more or less, adopted her as a kind of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had coffee and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important. At the end of the first week, they even presented her with a pay envelope containing ten dollars. The little girl took this home to her mother who suggested that she take her ten dollar
