Dad's Remembrance Party
I think it was very nice. Little Sis put together a lovely table of pictures and a fantastic scapbook she made to remember Dad for people to look at. Many of Dad's friends from the coffee shops and work came by. Thank god for my Mom who managed to get on the mic and sorta guide the whole thing. Dads On Dialysis
Well I have been gone for a few days...till finally my brother kicked me out ugggggggg. Anyway well its is a done deal one min he wasnt goint to need Dialysis the next he was but temp...Well after all all of that...He will be on Dialysis permently...He has to go to Dialysis 3 times a week and take so much meds. He is really feeling down again...I know he wants to give up and see this as a hard task to handle. I have tried to do and show him that he can still have a good life if he does as he is told...but I feel that he things its much easier to give up verses trying to get better and take all these meds....I feel so bad for him and wish I could take this pain away and make him feel so much better. But there is only so much I can do for him. We are hopin he will get to go home on Friday we are all nervous cuz we want to make sure everything is done right for him. Well the time has finally come. The time I have been dreading for the past two years. The doctor has put my dad on hospice because of his cancer and other illnesses. He is finally to sick for my mom to care for by herself. I lived with my parents for the longest time helping my mom with my father, as he got sicker and sicker. I decided to move out of their house for lots of reasons mostly selfish ones. Two main ones were my final decisions makers. Dad's Birthday (trip Back To Us)
As some of you know, this weekend was my daddy's birthday. The big 50. I took the wonderful billion hour plane ride from Quebec to California to be with my family to celebrate. I got in early this morning at around 3am...I think. I'm sooo screwed up time-wise. Which is more than mildly annoying because it took me awhile to get back on Quebec time after the summer. But, that aside, the visit home was nice. I got to see alot of family that I haven't seen in years, got to answer a thousand and one questions about why I'm going to school for political science and not acting. Which, I guess you guys on here wouldn't know -- but it was thought by many in my family that I would end up pursuing the arts and not politics...not that I'm not any longer pursuing the arts, it's just not a main focus and they're surprised by that. I don't know why. You'd think they'd be happier, a family member involved in actually changing things instead of simply memorizing lines and looking pretty...sheesh :)

Dads In Icu
I was woke up Saturday morning to find out my mom had to rush my Dad to the hospital for chest pains. His heart rate dropped as low as 32 at one point and they then had to trasnfer him to Charleston CAMC Memorial into the Intensive care unit where he is still. He was suppose to havwe a heart cath today and found out it was a heart attack and moved the heart cath to tomorrow at noon. I will not be around on fubar much and If I am it won't be for long. Please keep him in your prayers. Thank you. UPDATE!!! Dad is gonna be ok. He had 2 total blockages cutting off all blood flow to part of his heart. Also had 2 partial blockages and required 3 stints. The doctor feels he will make a full recovery and be fine with some new diet and lifestyle changes. :)

Dad's Surgery
Dad has his second cataract surgery tommorrow so I won't be around at least in the morning. I'm taking the day to take him for it and then whatever he needs afterwards. Will take him back in on Tuesday as well for them to check it. Enjoy the peace and quiet you will have lol.

Dads Advice To His Son.
A father said, "Son, the object of dating is to SCORE! And to do that, you have to give the woman something. So when you pick up your date later, make sure you have some flowers or chocolates to give her. Girls go crazy over that stuff. The more you give, the more you get!" Dad's Second Bout With Cancer And When We Knew About It
Well, the first thing that I have to say in this blog is that I'm sorry. I have been keeping this a secret since we found out, so I have not been fine, having nice days, good weeks or anything like it. It's more like I'm depressed, aggravated, angry, depressed, wanting to kick all those doctors butts, and like my heart has been ripped out and danced on. I knew that Dad was sick before Thanksgiving but I never told anyone until now. He is one day out from surgey and now I tell you guys, well as they say denial is not a river in Egypt. I also did not want to put anymore on your plates than you already had to handle. Dad had his first bout last year and had radiation treatments. He was very sensitive to the radiation and got burns several times. His mouth and his neck. Sometimes these would put off his treatments for a week or once for three weeks and they had to start giving him a lower dosage. When he had gone through the full course of treatments, the doctors did in depth testing

Dad's Recovering From Surgery Just Fine
Well, Dad came through his surgery just fine. Mom stayed at the hospital all day and half the night because Dad's doctor was running 2 1/2 hours behind and the volunteer at the front desk in the waiting room had Mom writen down in the wrong section, so the nurse had to come and find her to give her the first report on the surgery. The first report was that he was doing very good but the operation was going a little longer than planned. Mom found out from the doctor later that it went on so long because the tumor was bigger than they thought it would be so they had to take out more tissue to make sure that they hopefully got it all. Dad has a heart condition so they put him in ICU the night of his surgery to monitor that. They had to take out all the tissue in his throat out so they gave him one of those things they put in your throat ( Don't know how to spell it.) They had him hooked up to a ventilator so he could breath without straining himself and they had to get his blood

Dad's Skin Graft
The side-effects of the radiation struck again. The doctor and my mom and I hoped that this would not be a problem with Dad's healing up but it was. You see the surgery required that Dad's throat be opened up and then he had to heal from the wound. When he had his radiation that is were all the radiation was aimed. When the doctor started to take out the stitches he noticed the Dad was leaking an abnormal amount of fluid from the middle of his wound and it would not stop, so the doctor decided to do a skin graft over the whole incision to make sure that it would heal correctly. The doctor took muscle and skin from my dad's left shoulder and side area and started the procedure. When he got in to the wound my dad had a huge hole in the middle of the original incision. He had to rebuild some of the things that he had done in the first procedure. He said that it was a mess in there and if he had not given dad the skin graft he never would have healed on his own. Dad was completely lost in the kitchen and never ate unless someone prepared a meal for him. When mom was ill, however, he volunteered to go to the supermarket for her. hello all.. first thing i want to say is i have missed you all.it has been a very long week. i am very tired but am doing ok..dad is doing good he went through surgery very well he was under 3 and 1/2 hours then they had him in recovery for 6 hrs he was having problems waking up and his oxygen was very low..we was up there at OSU hospital from 9am friday till 1am saturday before they moved him to a room they call a step-down room. right across from the nurses staion.he never made it to a private room...he was watched closely.he was out of his head till late sunday.he didnt have enough oxygen getting to his brain.but he pulled through.brought him home tuesday afternoon and have been staying with him , he is doing ok..slow but moving forward.we will find out nov.3rd if the tumor was cancer or not.the Dr. saved 2/3rd of his kidney.yayyyyyy..so thats about it for now.. thank you all for the positive thoughts and prayers cause they are working...you are all the best friends a girl could ev

Hello all..took dad up to James Cancer Hospital at OSU this morning.to talk to the surgeon about the tumor on dads kidney that He removed on Oct 17th 2008..It ...was....cancer..it is called Cystic Cancer of the kidney..Dr.said that the test proved that He got it ....all out...and dads has a ...95% chance of it ...never ....coming back...He was very happy and said dad was doing good and he wanted to see dad back there in May 2009 to do a ultra sound to make sure dads 2/3rd of his left kidney is working right and if any tumors or cells have come back..Then after that they want to keep seeing him and testing just to make sure dad is ...cancer...free..they also did Labwork today.i told dad on the drive home..that even though i was scared for him on oct 17th , that i was soooo thankful he pushed to get it taken care of..dad is still tired and working on getting his strength back. once again, i CANT...thank you all enough for all of the loving words and thoughts, and prayers..love ya all..y

As I approach the four year anniversary of the loss of my father to colon cancer the day after Fathers Day 2005 I think of what the word father and the day named for it means to me. It seems to me that the day tends to give too much credit to those who don't deserve it, as well as those who do. To be a father is easy. The only requirement is that you be able to produce sperm. To be a dad requires so much more. A dad must also produce shelter, food, wisdom, discipline, and love. That of course is the short list. My dad did all of that and more. When my father passed away, losing him was unlike any emotional pain I'd ever experienced. His death literally sucked the oxygen out of my body. Suddenly felt like a large chunk of who I was; was no longer tangible. Dad Update
Dad seems to be doing a little better today. He is still in ICU but they removed the tube in his leg that they had done the angioplast (sp?) through. He was still on the vetilator when Sis and I left after lunchtime, but seemed calmer and more aware of the situation and was doing well with the "weening" process this time around. I'll be glad when that tube is finally out of his throat, he really seems to want to talk. I'm still tired....I'd like to say that I'll take a vacation when this is done, but I doubt it will happen. I've used up quite a bit of my babysitting in all of this stuff with Dad. Incidently, the other relative who is in the hospital is doing well also. They hope to go home tomorrow :) I've noticed my "Less Intoxicated Thoughts" are beginning to severely outnumber by other blog catagory...perhaps I will change that when this is all taken care of? lol

I talked to dad tonight; and he seemed to be really tired. He had just gotten in from walking when I had called. I called him because my 2 babies (ages 5 &6- they will always be my babies..*smiles) were asking about their papaw cause we were looking at pictures of him; as we have done most nights since he left. And my daughter Hannah looked up at me with a most sad and somber look and said, "I sure wish my pappy could come home because I miss him so much and I want to hear him sing to me." So, being the mom I am, I called so they could talk to him before their bed time. I could hear in his voice how tired he was; but he still made the effort for them. And they laughed and talked all together over speaker phone; but you could still tell they missed him holding them. This is the longest that they have gone with out seeing him. ****Noon Update GREAT news Dad's MRI came back with no signs of a Stroke and no Tumors. He had to have 2 pints of blood and 2 bags of Iron. They tested his blood and all is well and after his 3rd and final bag of Iron he will get to go HOME! My step-Mom will be taking the next week off to get Dad a routine set then hopefully she can rest. The following week Sara and I will be taking care of him. We will go from there. I want to thank all my Fu-Friends for being so concerned about my Dad. They no longer think he has a Brain infection. He has a build up of carbon dixioide. He is suppose to sleep with a CPAP and has not been doing so the past 2 months. So he will be going home in a few days or so. They have put him on a BIPAP-S. He sounds much better. Dad Update 9 26 08
Hey ya'll! Thanks again for the msg.s and comments. I am still sitting with Dad for at least 6 more weeks. I think it will be 12 BUT Dad is being postive. So that is a good thing. He has had problems with his sugar dropping for no reason. Monday AM he had a spell and my Nephew Ben would not leave for work b4 I got there. By mid-day he was fine. I took em to get his hair cut and he had me run into Wally-World and get my Step Mom Pat a 25 Annv. card. We went home and he was doing fine 5 min after I walked out the door. He passed out. Pat had moved her car to the wheelchair ramp and when she got back in the house he was out cold. His sugar dropped AGAIN. So dinner was out of the question. Yesterday he bottomed out at 3pm Once again no reason. He eats BUT he is eating things to get his sugar up then when he gets it up it just drops. His next Dr. app. is Tuesday. The Rescue unit told Pat to call em' anytime. They will be there. Dad was suppose to bump his Dr app. BUT is too stubborn to call

Hey ALL! Got Great news bout Dad. I took Dad to the Dr. on Friday to see how his ankle was doing. They put em' in a air cast and sent him to Physical Therapy (PT). The did not have a PT ava. So I took Dad yesterday to PT and now I only have to go and take em' to his Dr. app.'s and PT. No more Nurse DUH Thank GOD! I am now "Driving Mr. Daisey" LOL So I am sort of back. He has PT 2x's a week right now and I have lots to catch up on as far as cleaning my own house. Thanks to ALL that have sent well wishes and prayers. I have missed my Fu-Friends. Dad Update 10 31 08/ Divorce :-)
Hey All! Just had to share the good news! Dad went to his Ortho. Dr. yesterday and they released him to go back to work. His ankle is still healing BUT He is doing much better. He only needs a cane to walk with now. He has Physical Therapy 2x's a week for at least 3 more weeks could be longer. I will however still be going to his house once every two weeks to pay off my divorce loan. Dad gave me the money to get my divorce. If I waited till I had the money I'd never get one. LOL. Tony has really messed things up. He has been with a co-worker for over a year and I just found out for sure on the 17th. That is the day he left to take her to Ft. Lauderdale FL for "OUR" weeks vacation. Dad and I jumped thru hoops to get all his Dr.Appt.s moved till this week so I could be off with him. Well he left that Friday. Was the 4th week in a row that he found a reason or picked a fight to leave and go somewhere. Well he was only getting some of his clothes! No Way! I made em' get ALL of his clothes
