I am sometimes more resistant than normal to "accept change" - and I expect the new appearance to the rating system here to be greeted with the (lack of) hurrahs, or rather, the boos and jeers that have greeted every other change here to date (almost). I was supposed to go visit a friend for the weekend. A well-deserved vacation from the hell that my life has been lately (mostly work-related). But no...it had to snow. A lot. I was part of this family, perhaps redneck inbreeds...maybe not..but definitely not ur sane group. I'm rather bored. It's in that everybody else is doing their own thing time frame, so I went to bed. Yet, all there is to do in bed (current;y) is read or play on the internet. You know, I don't particularily care whether some unknown person online rates my pictures a 1 or a 10. We all have our own tastes as to what we find visually appealing. I know I do. But What I would like to understand is what does it accomplish to rate someone else's picture a 1? If that person has fairly low self esteem, it has the capability of truly hurting their feelings and dampening any growth for them. Rating someone a 1 is nothing short of cruel and trying to make yourself feel better, prettier, sexier, etc.. than someone else and what that does in essence is make you essentially uglier.

Im not big on the points thing here altho I do like to go up in levels so I can know Im doing something right around here but theres one thing about the ratings that gets my goat... Why is it that there has to be one jackass in the bunch that doesnt rate you the same way others do? A '3' Rating?!
Some wannabe art critic has visited my profile and graciously left a "3" rating on one of my photos. I will readily admit that I am not a great, professional, photographer. Some times I get lucky and one of my shots comes out as planned and looks good. Some times i get really super lucky and accidentally take a great photo! Most of the time, my photos are no more than average snapshots. Then, there are those occasions when I take what turns out to be really horrible looking photos. Since coming to CherryTap, I have reluctantly posted some of my photos in hopes that somebody out there might enjoy seeing photos of things that can't be seen just anywhere. When you rate someone's pics, does it make you feel powerful? Do you get turned on that you can rate someone a '1' or a '10' just at the click of a mouse? If that's you, then you suck; plain and simple. When I'm rating pics and stashes etc., I give it a '10'. Why? For one, I don't like to think about stuff and it's easier to just give a '10'. Also I think it takes some balls for people to put up pics of themselves on a site where you are constantly sized up to what someone considers 'beautiful' or 'sexy'. Rating Photos- Is Less Than 10 Really Rude?
Ya Know, when I first came to CT, I would rate photos honestly, depending on what I thought of them. I wasn't trying to be mean, I honestly thought people wanted to get real input on them. It wasn't until later (and after reading a few angry comments directed at me) That I realized that people here do not want honest apprasals of their photos or site - they simply want to make points so they can do more things with the points they earn. Personally, I prefer honest apprasals. But I now know that is not what this site is about. Now I either rate 10's or nothing. I expect that the ones who do rate less than 10 are just trying to be honest - not mean.

I didnt think it would ever happen me, but it did... today. The pic I was using for my primary was downrated... not once, but thrice. Now, I really did not expect it at all. I always rate 10s. If I dont like something I dont rate it. I had to laugh this morning when someone (no idea who) rated my default pic (which is currently my drawing called Posiedon) a one. Now if they really thought it would up set me they were wrong. Now had they the balls to rate it a one and tell me why they rated it that way it may have carried some weight. But in all reality unless you tell me why you down rate my art it makes no difference to me if you rate it less than a ten. This is the internet and I probably won't meet most of the people I talk to on a regular basis so why would I care if some anonymous person down rates my work? Good Day all: Ok here is the low down. Cherrytap constantly nales me with rating to fast, and recently has been blocking me for ten minutes each time, this makes me leave the site and go do something else. I think that this defeats the purpose! I am sales Manager/lead Sales/webmaster for the leading systems Integration company http://www.nortech.bc.ca , in Northern BC, Canada. I deal in server's storage and file server technology every day of my life, network's amongst other things are a big part of my life. this server overload ruling is bullshit, because I have a latest technology system, that is obviously faster and more capable than the cherry tap server's. My point why should we all be insulted by these stupid server overload messages, when the fault lies in the old crap technology that Cherrytap is obviously running. You want to stop having server overloads, spend some of the hard earned money that this sight generates for you, and do some adding or upgrading,

For once I have hit my rating limit for the day. Can I ask why in the hell there is now a rating limit? What's the fun in that if you can only rate so much a day. I think it's shiity. I don't understand the point of the lost cherry ratings. I thought it was supposed to be a rating system of 1 through 10, one being the lowest, 10 being the highest. If everyone is rated 10s, they mean nothing. What the hell is the point? I rate people honestly. If you don't like that, too bad. Stop complaining about how I gave you a 3 or even giving a 7 or an 8. A 7 or an 8 is good to me! It means well above average. 5 is average. I save my 10s. When I give them out they mean something.

Okay don't get pissy if I don't give you a ten on every photo in your album. I get bored I hit the I'm bored link and I rate the photos it sends me to. I rate based on this criteria: A)General quality of photo...is it grainy can I see what or who it is depicting? B)Next if its a personal photo...I don't care if you got nice abs or the paunchiest belly in the world....show a face get a decent rating as long as other criteria suitable. C)I do NOT base on your looks. It's a decent photo of a person or its a bad photo of anything. D) Scenery (given I can tell what it is always gets an 8 or better E)Military photos automatically rate a 10. They deserve no less!!!!! So if you got a bad rating scuze the F**K outta me...it's my personal opinion not the worlds cutest baby contest for crying out loud. Rant over...

While I have been known to rate some rather unsightly people a "1", that is a RARE occurance. i always rate people 10. However, when I see this on my Bar Tab: It makes me rate that person's profile and all available pics a "1". Then, looking at their profile, i see how new they are, but still ... What is up with these dumbass people who rate pics less than a 10? If you don't like a pic, just don't bother to rate it! I have had a few people contact me to say that they accidentally rated a pic less than a 10 but then they re-rated it a 10 (or an 11, if I am lucky). That's fine. That mistake is as easy to make as sending a shout out to the wrong person (which I have done many times, sorry if I did that to you). However, I get these chicks who check me out and rate my pic a 1. I don't get it, does it make them feel better about themselves? It's just plain rude. Most of the people I have met on CT are really terrific but these few just plain old piss me off. There, I feel better now that I was able to rant about this.

Okay, I've seen where some of y'all get downrated and smack the perp with a 10 just to show that you are better than them. That's all cool, but I'm a bit more ornery than that. I get a few ratings under 10. No problem. I give them what they gave me. And if it was under a 5, I block them too. What I find amusing is when someone rates me a 3 or 4, and I do the same and they get all pissy. Fair is fair.

I'm pretty easy going with ratings myself. If I like something, it will most likely get a 10. If I don't like it I usually keep that to myself (if you don't have something nice to say ....). If I don't rate something doesn't necessarily mean I don't like it though. I do understand not everyone is going to love me ... thats just the way the world is. What would be nice though is if you don't like a picture of mine, tell me why. Constructive criticism is appreciated (things like ... "if you do this would look better" is helpful .... things like "you suck" is just being an ass). I assume if you rate me low & say nothing, you just do it to try to be mean. If hurting others is what makes you feel good, I'm just sad for you. In the internet world its the same as walking by & insulting strangers. ** Although (positive) ratings are nice, comments always feel much more from the heart. I have a lot of fun on this site. And my philosophy is this. If I don't feel a pic deserves a 10, I won't rate it. I feel it a slap to receive anything less than 10. I've noticed over the little bit of time of hanging out here that everyone either rates u a 10 or nothing at all. Not that i mind all the tens, but what i want to know is why? Its almost like people are afraid to be honest. Who's really gonna be upset if they get rated an 8? I have been told that a way of getting more points here is to rate members' pictures. Well, here is my view on that: 1. It is interesting to do for the first 5-10 minutes, but then becomes a boring thing to do. 2. I rate pictures on the following qualities: quality of picture, overall attractiveness of person, special effects used (if any) and is there anything in the background that I find interesting. 3. Only military personnel get an automatic "10" from me. Those gals and guys really deserve a "10" since they are protecting our freedoms here in the US. 4. As for everyone else, I call them as I see them. So don't take it personal. You are probably a great gal or guy to hang with, but not everyone is photogenic, sexy or just gets my attention. And to end this, I rate my own picture a "2". It is not a good picture of me. I look bad, had poor lighting and no special effects.

If they mark your pics as NSFW then they need to make sure they mark all pics on here as such that show alittle skin. I have seen more cleveage on Blasts than on my pic. I didn't know it was a crime to rate people too fast. Are people who have that setting so stuck on themselves that they want you to sit and stare at their picture before you rate it? Some people have very fast connections, and it takes a split second to load these photos, and another second to decide if you like it and rate it. Do they want you to take in their awesome assumed beauty? Do they want me to sit there and run a batch for each photo? Sorry..Not going to happen. So, I say to anyone who would have that setting, "Get OVER yourself!" I also want to know from these people, how long is the appropriate time frame to look at a picture before rating it? 30 seconds? A minute? These people would probably get creeped out if someone sat there looking at a picture for an extended period of time! So, if you have that setting, remember 2 things...One, you aren't that special. 2, you WANT to be rated, right?? Geez.

Rating Anonymity
I was just reading through some blogs and I noticed that right underneath the cherries depicting the rating system of 1-10, there is a bit that says "All ratings are anonymous". Hm. I did this literally. I'm wondering if they realize the oxymoron they have created. A bar tab that displays rating and rater, anonymously.

So this may be a little other than "normal" for fubar, but unlike the majority percentage on this site,my world will not crash and burn over being "downrated" I'd rather know the "truthful" opinions of the masses so........if you think i'm a 1, mark it, if you think i'm a 5,mark it, i'll appreciate it all the same. Do fubar patrons really wish to be rated honestly ? Do they expect to be rated a 10 even if I think they are an 8 or less ? You should always tell the truth , you dont know when you might make a connection and ruin it by lying . Tell someone if you like something ,or dislike something and be ready for their reply what ever it may be . If asked a direct question give an honest reply ,it will be easier to remember later. If someone is interested they should not be too distant ,it may seem as a lack of interest. Complement often ,a thrifty way to make someone feel good . Ok so I'm going to be as nice as I can, because I really like this website. Lately I've been getting a few nasty people who think that just because they're on FUBAR I automaticly have to rate them a 10. I know that the point of Fubar is to make friends. I also know that not EVRY1 will be my friend and I'm fine with that. If I rate your picture lower than a 10 it's not because I'm a bitch or want to offend you, it's because that what I felt you deserved based on the picture that came up in the ratings game. Dont be offended, evry1 has different ideas of what attractive is. Not every1 finds me attractive, but I'm not on here crying about it. Move on! Get a life! Leave me the hell alone. I dont lie, nor am I a kiss ass, so if you dont derserve a 10 I'm not giving it! Get over it. The Rating System
It didn't take me long to realize that the picture rating system is obviously flawed. Perhaps the raters ought to retain anonymity. I suppose part of the reason that people vote '10's' and '11's' all the time is to avoid retailiation, and to get their own '10's' and '11's'. That's what all this 'return' the love is about I suppose. A million dollars isn't worth much if everyone has it.

As for those of you who only expect 10s from everyone....Don't expect them from me! If every pic was rated a 10...why bother even rating them? I don't care if you don't like my system. You know, I'm new here. I clicked on the bored area to see what was there. I was given some pictures to rate. No big deal. I go through, rate, say hi and leave a nice message. I have people now rating me a 1 and then blocking me. I don't get it. what did I miss? I don't rate anyone as a 1. So, I guess this place is really like a bar. It's all about pretty people. If you don't get a 10 from every person who sees your picture etc., I guess you have to berate them, rate their profile as 1 and then block them. If this is what the truth is here then it's no different than when i went to a bar when I was 18, a bunch of superficial bull sh*t, no one is real. BTW that was well over 24 years ago. I think the only thing I will do here from now on is hook up with my girlfriends and forget the rest. What do you think? Let me hear your opinion?
