I'm an old retired truck driver. Where Are My Glass Slippers??
Last night I was cleaning out my closet getting rid of old shoes and laughed b/c I realized that I was "fall" cleaning my life as well as my closet. I've recently ended things with the man whom I thought I would spend the rest of my life with. We were together for almost 5 years. Yes, we were married, but, it all came down to that simple fact: I can not be in a non-relationship relationship with someone for a prolonged period of time. I can't share hopes and dreams, talk about childhoods, whisper sweet nothings, share myself with someone who doesn't love me. It doesn't make sense to me, and frankly, I hope it never does. I respect myself too much to have a sustained sexual, emotional, intellectual connection with someone who can't appreciate the beauty and wonder that I add to their lives (2007 update, I wrote this in September of 06, yet I find myself in a situation almost identical to that as before. I have taken a position in a dusty, far away land. Tomorrow morning I'm on a plane to Virginia for a couple weeks of orientation and training then off to Georgia for more of the same. Everyone I tell gives me the same "Are you Crazy" look...I'm not. I'm well aware that I'll be in a war zone and I'm going to be extra cautious with regard to that but honestly, I'm excited. I will be surrounded by the most kick-ass military on the planet and be working exclusively on one of the best protected bases in the area. Yesterday, 7 December, I went to the Burial At Sea of my uncle, Clyde Allen, aboard the USS Samuel B. Roberts, a Navy frigate. I had been invited by my cousin, Maya, and I couldn't wait to get out there. You see, my uncle retired from the Navy and Navy Reserve years ago, but, like most military members who give that much of their life to something, he left a piece of his heart there. Update 12/8/07 On My Daughter London
I went and picked up London from the hospital the other day. She is doing wonderfully. I was shocked when I saw the actual wound that she has from the surgery. It is about 18 inches long and goes from the middle of her abdomen along her hip horizontally all the way to her back. They put in 37 staples and probably about that many stitches. She can't move much or very well but that will get better with time. It is good to have her home. Again I thank all those for you support, prayers and thoughts during her recovery. What a blessing you have all been for me and my daughters. I know I have said it before but thank you thank you thank you. A few weeks and she will be having her stitches out, actually the day after Christmas. I may not have any money to get my family gifts for Christmas with all the trips to the hospital but I am sure that this will be a very special Christmas for us regardless. I've Been Away...
Likely that you didn't notice...but I've been *busy*. My kid went to Hawaii with my stepsister and her family for a week (returning tomorrow), so on a lark (and about 36 hours notice) I accompanied a client-friend on a business trip to Our Nation's Capital. Donner Pass
Well just made my first trip thru Donner Pass. Actually had to wait over 12 hours before I was able to go thru. There was a big storm that dropped around 6 to 12 inches of snow on the area above 4500 feet. I drove thru and was juat amazed how beautiful it is up there. The drive down the other side was fun. Going about 55 to 60 mph with a full jake brake on and still having to hit the brakes to keep my speed down. Can't wait for my next time thru, maybe I can get some pix with my phone to share. Well spending the night in Ripon California, then going to Rancho Cucamonga tomorrow. Trying to get a load to run thru Pheonix to see my grandma, who just had a heart attack a couple of nights ago. Flat Tire.....
Ok so I went out to meet a someone tonight to do something and things didn't go as planed. On my way home I ended up with a flat tire, well I got to a gas station where the lady working got someone to come over to help me get my spare on. Well when I got on the road I could tell something wasn't right, well I pulled over to look at the spare tire and that was now flat also. People were driving fast by me and I thought I was going to get hit by the car, so I called 911 to have them send someone to help me out. Well my friend Bob also came out to help me but there was nothing that he could do to it so I had to get towed to the tire shop. I was lucky that Carl answered his phone so he got incontact with his work to get a truck out to me, I really appreciate him doing that for me. It's been a long and crazy night, I just wish I had stayed home now but I can't go back now. Well thanks for all that I called tonight and listening to me cry and deal with my shit.

Small Towns
Yeah some of you know about my troubles i nthsi small town I live in. I now call it a HELL HOLE! If it isn't one thing it's another. Tonight on my way home from work, here I had stood all night. I was very tired and wanted to come home and rest. Ah but no Blountsville police had other ideas. As i was coming down the hill into my stupid town a cop passed me. I knew what was aobut ot happen and i braced myself but I still got very pissed. I drove the speed limit and went ot turn to see if the cop woudl still follow me and sure enough he did and turned his lights on me. That ofice lied and said I was speeding; tell me please, how a cop coming towards you can clock you speeding? Any way he asked to see my license and then he asked me if they were ok. I said yes sir. After what seemed ot take forever he came back and told me not only was i speeding I didn't diem my lights and he couldn't see my tag. No I didn't get a ticket but I was so pissed, mad that I drove very slow home looki

Well it has been a very eventful week for me.This past Sunday the region I live in flooded and was reported it is a natural disaster area!I am very lucky that nothing bad happend to me or my husband or daughter or our other family.The only damage that was done was our entire fence in our backyard was knocked over due to wind gusts of 90miles an hour!We were going to replace the fence anyway so that I am not worried about.But I know so many people who are without power and it is going on day 6now!Others have trees falling on their homes,cars and it is really awful.I hate hearing people saying I lost roof shingles or my Christmas ornaments when there are now homeless families or families dealing with much more severe damages other than some stupid shingles!!!The good news is people are strong and we always buck up and move foreward no matter what life or weather may throw our way!!!

Family
I have lots of family in California and I am missing them so much that I literally ache. I was out there in September for a few days but there was simply was not enough time to see everybody and I felt guilty then and have ever since. I try to visit at least once a year, sometimes twice a year but now that it's the holiday season, the guilt has intensified that I'm not trying hard enough. Making Venison Summer Sausage
Ahhhhh my 2nd favorite winter past time...making summer sausage...I use select herbs and seasonings and add Jalepeno and pepperjack or cheddar cheese to make these scrumptious movie snacks. After ALL the ingredients and the cure have been mixed thoroughly together and stuffed into casings I smoke them for 2 hours @ 160* then bump up the heat to 200* for 1.5-2 hours. When the internal Temp reaches 160* they are done and taken out of the smoker and put into an ice water bath to stop the casings from shrinking and shriveling....afterwards....here you have it...
