(I had to split this blog up into two parts, telling the stories of two seperate crazy nights I've had this past week. This is story number one.) Yes yes, my life has been pretty damned crazy this past week. Saturday night me and my friends went to Lafayette. We went bar hoppin' on the strip and Jefferson Street and got really really drunk. We were supposed to go see the Atone Pain Tribe at Club Sin, but we found out they cancelled. So we had a few drinks there and decided to go to a strip club on Evangeline Thrwy called Desperado's. It was my first time at a strip club and let's just say I was a wee bit surprised by what I saw when I first opened the door. We sat down by the stage and ordered some drinks. Part Of The Past
Well, as i talked about in my last blog, I had spoken to my ex....hoping to go to the movies....We went and watched Saw 3 with my best friend and her boyfriend.....Went to applebees and ate.....had a great time except for the fact that the movie sucked!!(sorry...for those who havent watched it). Anyway, we have been talking and have seen each other since then....I am hoping that we will soon get back what we once had.....Wish me luck!!! I will keep all posted.... As my profile states I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We are currently experiencing an all time record flood. The Cedar River runs right the center of town and divides the East and West ends of town. Flood stage for the river is 18 feet. The highest flood on record was 20 feet in 1929, currently the river is at 20.23 feet and is predicted to crest at 24.5 feet. We are also waiting for thunderstorms tonight and all day tomorrow that are expected to bring an additional 1-3 inches of rain. My friend Lizzie passed peacefully this weekend surrounded by her family and pets. She was able to choose her leaving in a way that honored herself and all of those around her. As some of you will find out the more you get to know me, I had a really big struggle with drugs for many years. I started out just experimenting, trying it for fun, and kept using. Well, my pathology results were given to me today. I had surgery 4 weeks ago tomorrow and have been patiently waiting. When I talked to the doctor last week, they were worried, bc they didn't have the full report back, but they told me NOT to worry. So they called me today and told me what was taking so long--the original report showed cancer. I almost died when she told me that, but Dr. T said--NO, do more tests, that can't be right. So the lab did. Spent another 1 1/2 weeks testing. After more tests, this is what they know. My cervix looks bad-like HORRIBLE bad. Pathologists said thank goodness I did the surgery when I did because they felt that within 6 months, I would have had full blown cancer. I had wanted the doctor to leave part of my cervix to begin with, but he said, no that usually doesn't help any. And now I'm so thankful that I let him overrule my decision. OK so I've FINALLY entered the last trimester and I must say .... it's been one long road getting here and it seems an eternity away until March. To update everyone .... Today, as America refelcts on the event of 9-11, I can't help but wonder about days gone by. My Dad enlisted after Pearl Harbor and served in the Pacific for an enlisted that was "for the duration of the war and 6 months after". He always regretted not making it a career. My oldest brother was drafted for Vietnam and served during some of the toughest fighting in '68 and '69 and came home to people spitting on him and calling him a "baby killer". I was drafted in the last draft of Vietnam in '73 but never made it in country. I remembered my Dad's regret and chose to serve for 22 years and never regretted 1 day of it. Yes, most of it was during the cold war, in a Fleet Ballistic Submaring making 3 knots to nowhere out in the Pacific Ocean, 3 month at a time for a total of 12 patrols. Ok, I've never really blogged. Never really needed to. It seems things are changing now. I have this terrible pain in my right knee and hip. I have been to a chiropractor and an orthopedic doctor. I had an xray on the hip and an MRI on the knee - all they could see is "Mild arthritis" - not even anything unusual for my age. The pain comes after being on my feet for just a couple of minutes. It is intense enough that I find myself leaning on anything I can find. Everything else is seemingly fine. I'm at a point where I can't exercise much because it hurts too much. I'm at a total loss. I need to paint and I can barely stand long enough to clean my studio space so I can paint. Fuck. It seems that everything else in my life is going fairly well. The pain ruins it all. I am still having loads of pain in my right hip and knee. The pain of walking is almost as bad as it was before I had the surgery on my other knee in 2000. I can't exercise worth a crap.
